"Ay, muhfucka." I heard someone say loudly, a nudge to my shoulder being made by a large hand. I was ready to step back from Pia and swing, but instead I found Slim standing there when turning swiftly on my heel.
He held a bottle of Ciroc in one hand, Hennessey in the other. My hard expression had changed to a wide grin, looking forward to whatever the dark or clear liquor would do to me tonight. I took the Ciroc before he could step away to join the others. I twisted the cap open to take a swig, being met with the familiar burning sensation running down my throat. It was like meeting with an old friend.
"You did so good, babe." Pia went back to saying before Slim had come over to interrupt. I gave her a smirk but looked past to her, Hails no longer in my direct line of vision.
I wasn't sure where she went, but I wasn't going to press the subject either. I had Pia and for now that's the only person I needed. She was pretty supportive when it came to this scene, she understood all the shit I went through when it came to the industry. She was a rider when it came to this for sure.
I soon wrapped a tattooed arm around her, leading the way towards the circle my group of friends had made around the couches. I found a drunken Ashleigh and Abbie standing on one of the couches dancing, Tal making sure they both wouldn't fall off and knock their heads off their shoulders. Taav and Rook held drinks in hands, bantering back and forth about the performance. Ace, Slim, and AJ all cracked jokes and Baze, Hailey, and Dre stood towards the balcony. Everyone was in their rightful places and seemed to be having a pretty good time. What caught me off guard most though was seeing Pia now on her phone.
One thing about our group of friends was that when we gathered together, phones weren't really acceptable. We might've taken a picture once or twice or posted something on Snapchat, but other than that, social media wasn't something we sat and scrolled through. The idea of her not interacting rubbed me the wrong way. I took another gulp of the Ciroc and handed it off to Tal who looked as if he needed it, especially with the two blondes singing some rap song at the top of their lungs.
I watched as my fellow tattooed friend took a long swig from the bottle before fixing the hat on his head. He set the bottle on the table to help both girls down before Ashleigh stepped over to start conversation with Pia. Luckily that gave me a moment to slip away and head over to the trio at the balcony. Dre was too busy speaking to Baze about a few girls down on the main floor, Hailey just swaying back and forth to the music that played.
I moved in behind her, my arm snaking around her neck while my hand gripped onto her upper arm. She continued to sway, not at all missing a beat. She must've known it was me because she was pretty content with how close I held her. She eventually turned her head towards me, still singing the lyrics with this wide grin on her face.
Eventually she had stopped singing and turned, her eyes running over towards Pia. I could only tell because I was currently doing the same. It seemed her and Ashleigh were doing a shot together and getting along well. But then again Ashleigh got along with anyone when she was drunk. Her resting bitch face would be back on bright and early tomorrow morning.
"You did good tonight, K." I heard Hailey say, not really bothering to say anything or push away when her hands gently gripped onto the sleeveless black tee I wore. Having her in close proximity was always something that seemed to set this gutwrenching feeling in me. Who fucking knew what it was.
"Thanks, Hails." I responded, giving her a wink as she let out a laugh and rolled her eyes.
"Family shot!" I heard Dre call out after stepping on the square glass table, a girl with a round tray in hand standing and passing around the shot glasses filled with a liquid. She hardly wore anything - short shorts, a cropped tank, heels - but then again any club in the area would consider their attire too much.
