The sound of the bathroom door opening caused me to glance up into the wide mirror along the wall; Ashleigh's reflection stared back at me as I rested my hands on the marble counter. We had gotten back to the apartment not that long ago and I was still trying to process what had happened in the casino in my mind.
Thinking back to the kiss sent an electric feeling throughout my body that mimicked the exact same spark I felt when his lips had touched mine; it had happened so naturally and smoothly that it freaked me out yet excited the fuck out of me. Drunk or not, it happened and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't enjoyed every second of it. Yet I tried to tell myself not to think too much into it - it was just one drunken kiss.
The problem was drunk me wanted him as much as he had wanted me in that casino; I was trying to bypass the complexity of the intimate gesture and enjoy the rest of the night, but he continued to flow to the back of my mind.
Ashleigh was wearing one of my hoodies, which I normally would've been quick to point out if my mind weren't so occupied at the moment. The first thing both of us did after walking through the front door was head to our own rooms to change out of our dressy attire; the second I had stepped into my room, my black dress was pooled at my feet.
Ashleigh rose a single brow as she nudged me to get to the sink. "Why do you look so serious? Do you feel sick?" She asked, gesturing toward the toilet.
I shook my head as I went to sit down on the edge of the bathtub. "How are you feeling?"
She shrugged her shoulders. "I think I sobered up some in the car. The girls they brought home sure are talkative."
I rolled my eyes, thinking back to the Uber ride home; four girls had tagged along. The two brunettes out of the four friends were attached at the hip to Ace and Dre. The blonde seemed to be swinging back and forth between Baze and Kells, while the short black-haired girl seemed to favor Rook. Slim and AJ seemed to not care too much about bringing anyone home tonight as they were too busy enjoying themselves by telling jokes and recalling old tour stories.
The guy that had gifted the chocolate-covered strawberries to Ashleigh even tried talking her up at one point before we had left the casino, but I could automatically sense she wasn't into it. He gave off a creepy vibe, which I assumed Slim read right away since he had casually strolled along while they were talking and put his arm around her; that ended that.
"Okay, so I don't want to talk about it, but how weird was it tonight?" I asked, running my palms down my smooth legs. I desperately needed someone else's perspective because I was still perplexed over the entire situation.
She glanced at me through the mirror as she washed her hands, giving me the same look from this morning. "Don't open Pandora's box if you aren't ready for it. That's all I'm going to say."
I furrowed my eyebrows together as she began to stroll into my room, cutting through to the hallway. I followed close behind. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, not exactly excited over her answer. I was hoping for some clarification, not something more confusing to dwell on. But as we traveled through the apartment, those thoughts were temporarily forgotten as voices were heard from down the hall.
Music could be heard throughout the speakers of the apartment, courtesy of one of the DJ's laptops. Just as I stepped into the living room, my phone vibrated in the waistband of my shorts.
Dre and Rook were on the couch, seated next to their girls, as they all indulged in alcohol-fueled conversation. I quickly said hello to the boys, messing with Rook's hair as I passed by. As the two girls glanced my way, I gave them a polite smile, which earned me a rude glare.
