After taking an extremely long shower, singing crazy loud and horribly off key, putting on nothing but Dean's shirt and my blue boy-shorts, dancing around like crazy to only the music in my head, eating a surprisingly okay frozen burrito, and running around the halls of the bunker for a while, I'm completely out of things to do. I wander aimlessly around and end up in what looks like an armory. "Wow." I whisper to myself. I look through a couple boxes and find a box filled with long silver blades with silver handles. I grab one and put the cover back on the box. I go back to a previous box and take out a holster for your calf. I put it on and move around a bit. I nod slowly to myself. I leave it on, even though I look rather silly. Having a weapon makes me feel better. I continue to wander around and finally end up in the library. I look around at all the books and shrug. I guess I'll just start reading.
*Dean's POV*
As soon as we're on the road the music is turned up and me and Sammy are going fast. He and I have a slight disagreement on how loud the music should be, and eventually he wins out. I sigh in happiness and as we go over a little jump I let out a holler. Sam stares at me with a knowing smile, so I hit him in the shoulder.
"Shut up, Sam." I tell him with a smile. He shakes his head at me.
"I didn't say anything!"
"Didn't have to. I can tell what you're thinking." His face turns slightly indignant.
"I'm not in the single digits anymore, Dean. I know you can't." I laugh out loud.
"Ah, man. I almost forgot about that!" I slap the steering wheel in good humor. "Can't believe you fell for that one. How long did you believe that again?" I glance at him as he frowns down at the open folder in his hands. He mumbles something and I grin at the fact that I'm getting to him. "What was that Sammy? Did I hear you say two years?" He keeps ignoring me but I can see his eyebrow twitch in irritation. I chuckle lightly. "I impressed myself with that one."
"I still don't know how you did it!" Sam finally breaks down and yells at me. "You guessed what I was thinking every time!" I laugh again and shake my head.
"Sam, I've been stuck with you ever since you were born. What don't I know about you?" I say and he huffs in frustration. A few seconds pass by and I look over at him and stare at him as if I can see into his consciousness. He stares right back at me. I look back at the road with pursed lips.
"You're thinking about the case." Sam scoffs and looks down at the folder in his hands with a knowing, yet annoyed smile.
"Well, one of us has to! God knows you're not." He chuckles to himself, pleased. After another few minutes of driving Sam shuts the folder and looks absentmindedly out the window. "I still can't believe we went to the beach." I glance over at him and shrug.
"Haven't I always told you we would go to the beach sometime? Well, now we have." I say simply. Sammy shifts in his seat so that his whole torso is facing me.
"That's just the thing Dean, you have always said we would go to the beach or take a vacation, but we never did. Crap happened. I understood why we could never have one, but suddenly this girl shows up and you're all about spontaneity?" Sam chuckles and then I hear him say very quietly, "It's kind of nice." I look over at him as he opens the folder and starts flipping through the pages. I see a fully-grown well, overgrown, man and yet still see my little brother. I think about it for a second, then decide.
I grunt and shift in my seat a minute. "Hey, Sammy?" He looks up from his folder at my tone of voice and makes a questioning noise. I pout for a second and then say almost inaudibly, "She told me she loves me." I intentionally put all my focus on the road, but when Sam doesn't answer in two minutes, I have to look over. His face is split in two by a huge smile. Seeing him smile like that makes me smile, so then we're both smiling like idiots.
