Chapter 7
Louise rushed past bodies, trying to get to Abi. Her best friend moved at an amazing pace, taking into account her short legs. She wanted to punch the little tart from class in her face. How could someone say something so heartless to Abi? Especially to Abi...
Louise didn't even bother to listen to Dr Cash, who probably wondered why Abi didn't go see him after class. He could ask her himself, but first Louise had to catch her! At last she reached Abi, who sat on a bench near the cafeteria, clearly waiting for Louise. Her face was seemingly calm, but Louise could see Abi was plenty upset.
Upset wasn't the word. Abi struggled to keep a straight face as Louise sat across her.
"You ok Abs?"
Abi nodded.
"You know what L? I won't let childish jealousy upset me."
Louise sighed.
"But your still upset friend...i can see."
Abi turned her head away.
"Obviously I'm upset. But people know me. That what's-her-face cow can't change that. So, i'll get over it. But i guess i should see today as a wake up call." Louise didn't really understand.
"Why?"
"Because Andrew Cash is my lecturer, not my friend." Louise smiled. She reached for Abi's hand.
"Abs, what happened today has nothing to do with you and Dr Cash. It was Matt who can't handle his bruised ego, and saw the two of you together as an opportunity to hurt you. And his little minions are so minor in class, no one would even waste a second of thought on what they say."
She squeezed Abi's hand.
"Anyway, you where excellent! That little maggot didn't know what hit her. She should have known not to mess with you."
Abi smiled for the first time. Louise always had a way of making her feel better. She really did love her friend. Even though they where opposites in so many ways, they understood each other.
"Okay L, I'm done sulking. I don't even know what that girl's name is! Why would i worry?"
Louise nodded in approval.
"Hear hear me dear! That's the Abi i know."
Suddenly her eyes wandered across Abi's shoulder.
"Uh, Abs,one minor detail..."
Abi frowned slightly.
"Uh, what Louise?"
Louise's green eyes where wide.
"You kinda forgot about someone...and he's coming our way!"
Abi quickly glanced over her shoulder, just to meet smouldering brown eyes about 10 meters away.
"Oh shoot! Andrew! You think he saw me?"
Louise looked at Abi as if she was an idiot.
"Hell no, of course he didn't see you. I mean, he's like walking towards you, NOT seeing you."
Abi glanced again, but this time she stared into his shirt's button.
Slowly she turned back, trying to ignore the warmth of his body behind her. Louise started to get up, ignoring Abi's wordless threats.
"Well, i guess I'll go now...Colin's probably waiting." She gave a nervous giggle. Louise knew Abi would get her for this, but she didn't want to stay and experience Dr Cash's anger. She had a good view of his face, and it didn't look very friendly. This was something Abi could handle. She looked at Abi on last time before grabbing her book bag and leaving.
