Chapter 3
Abi sat silently in class, waiting for Louise and the rest of her classmates to arrive. After not finding parking the day before, and due to an early night thanks to Matt, she was up and at least 20 minutes early. It was quiet and dark in class, and since she didn't know how the lights worked, she just left them. She enjoyed the silence. With Louise around her she rarely had some. That girl could chatter nonstop. But she loved her for it, and Louise knew her friend well enough to know when she had to shut up and listen. Abi sunk deeper into her thoughts. Last night at the bar had a bigger effect on her than she allowed everyone to see. She didn't like Matt at all. He always had a way of staring at her, and made her feel very uncomfortable. She was afraid of him. Unfortunately he was a part of their group, and even though she avoided him, sometimes things like last night happens, and she's just grateful that they were surrounded by other people.
Suddenly the class door opened, and she could see the silhouette of a man when he entered. The door closed with a bang, and the room was dark again. Abi held her breath, hoping that the person didn't see her and left. There was still 15 minutes left, and she didn't want to be stuck with any man for that long. But the stranger made his way to the work station, and she could hear him struggle with the sea of buttons. Suddenly the sound of the electronic black board rolling down came up, and a very frustrated voice said: "Oh, for fuck sakes!" A grin appeared on Abi's face as she recognized the voice. Dr. Andrew Cash. How delightful. He clearly didn't know how the lights worked, and she sat back to listen to him struggle. She wasn't about to help his highness figure it out! She could hear a few smacks, and then a book fell hard on something soft. A groan escaped him, and Abi imagined him holding his foot, hopping around with pain on his face. She gave a sigh of pleasure, adjusted her feet and....accidentally knocked the chair in front of her.
"Who's there?” His voice sounded irritated. Abi held her breath. A few moments later a small light lit the room, and Andrew was visible in his cell phone's screen light. Two seconds later the light went on, and Abi looked straight into his dark eyes.
"Did you enjoy it?" He walked towards her, slowly letting his eyes scan over her face. She gave him a toothy grin.
"I would have liked to actually see the book fall on your foot, but yeah, it was rather amusing." Her eyes were dancing. Clearly this girl also found his pain amusing. She looked lovely in her jeans and green sweater, hair up in an untidy pony tail. Andrew sat in the chair in front of her.
"So Tinkerbell, why were you sitting in the dark? You could have spared me a lot of swearing."
"I'm not a lecturer; I'm not supposed to know how to put them on. It looks like a pilot's cockpit down there. And besides, why would I want to help you? You call me Tinkerbell." His dark eyes crinkled into a smile. How could he tell this head strong girl how cute she was for him? After a day? She would laugh at him, and probably slap him across the head too. Besides, as long as he was her lecturer he was pretty much forbidden to even be too friendly with her.
"Well Tinkerbell, I don't even know what your real name is. Maybe if you give it to me, I can decide."
"Decide what?” Abi couldn't help but be curious.
"Just tell me, and then you can find out." He gave her a sly smile.
"What if I don't want to tell you?" He leaned in closer to her, his face inches away from hers.
"Then I'll ask you during the lesson, in front of everyone." Abi gasped. That was the last thing she wanted.
"You're not allowed to blackmail me, Dr Cash."
"You call it blackmail; I call it a means to an end." Then the door opened, and the first students started to enter the classroom. Andrew stood up, and started to turn away from her.
"Well Tinkerbell, time's running out. Looks like I'll be asking you the first homework question."
"What homework! You didn't give us any yesterday." Abi was starting to feel cornered and more confused.
"No, I didn't, but I'm about to, and I want someone to do the first question for me. So..." He walked away, slowly.
"Oh my gosh. You really are evil. It's Abi, ok? Abi White. Happy now?" Andrew turned to her, a huge grin on his face.
"Well then, that wasn't so hard? Jeez, you really should control your temper. It doesn't suit your size." He leaned towards her again. "I think I'll keep it Tinkerbell."
He was back in front again, and Louise sat down next to Abi. She eyeballed her friend.
"What the hell was that about? You look like your about to murder a baby, and he looks like a cat with cream."
Abi gave a snort.
"That man is crazy L, I tell you. Psycho." Louise had a knowing look on her face. She looked at Andrew calculatingly, sizing him up. He was very attractive. Maybe in his late twenties, early thirties. He had night black hair, cut in a businesslike style. His face was strong, his lips sensual and his brown eyes were full of life. His body lean, dressed smart, and when he moved it was with the grace of a tiger. Louise could understand why all the girls in their class were head over heels. Even she liked looking at him. He was smart, spoke well, and obviously a force to be reckoned with in the field of economics. All and all, he was amazing...not crazy. Louise frowned. Abi has eyes in her head, but since they had their first class with him, she never joined the conversations about how tight hiss ass was and how incredibly hot he was.
"You like Dr Cash, don't you?" She whispered in Abi's ear, who was listening intently at the lecture. Shocked she turned to Louise, her blue eyes wide.
"What? Are you out of your mind? I can't stand the man!" She bit of the last sentence, giving Louise a disapproving look. Louise shrugged her shoulders.
"Ok, just wanted to find out. Relax Abs, I believe you." Abi looked at the black board again, shaking her head. Louise sat back, also shifting her attention to the lecturer. A smile appeared on her pretty face. She lied. She didn't believe Abi, but she would leave it there. She knew Abi well enough. Abi wasn't the type of girl who fell in love over and over again. She was so beautiful and smart, but Abi didn't have a clue about relationships. Someone needed to teach her, and Louise had a sneaky suspicion that Dr Andrew Cash was perfect for the job.
