Chapter 14
Deb checked her appearance in her rear-view mirror again. She was meeting Matt in a local bar, and even though he was her big sister’s kid, she was only 6 years older than him. She was her parents’ little surprise just after their last child left the house for good. So much for retirement and travelling the world. She knew she looked good, and was planning on seeing if she can bum a drink from a student or two. One thing of living in a university town, there’s always young, drunk students who were more than eager to please her.
She got out of the car and walked towards the bar. She didn’t mind to sit alone and wait for Matt, this would get her more attention. As she entered the bar, she passed two bulky bouncers. She could feel them staring at her legs. She didn’t mind at all. If she did, she’d not be wearing this very short mini. She made her way through wriggling bodies, smoke enveloping her. The music was deafening, and as she found a spot, she sent Matt a text explaining where he would find her.
She glanced across the room, trying to see a familiar face in the flashing lights. She knew she wouldn’t see him here. He was probably with the little shit. Her slender hands reached into her handbag. She needed a cigarette. The exposure to the smoke made her crave. As she inhaled the smoke from her cigarette, she sat back, relaxed. Her phone went off; a text from Matt saying he was on his way. She had one sole purpose for tonight. Find a way to annihilate Abigail White. Hopefully Matt could be of some assistance. She was so close into closing the deal with Andrew. Angrily she took another pull of the cigarette. She noticed two students sitting at a table across from her’s. She knew she had many eyes on her, and sat back, strategically crossing her legs. She knew she exposed enough flesh to halt a rugby team. The students across from her looked at each other briefly, clearly discussing her. Again, she didn’t mind. She needed to get some attention, since the man she loves doesn’t do it.
Mat’s huge body appeared, making his way through the dancing bodies. He halted at her table.
“Hi Aunty Deb.”
“You know how I feel about you calling me aunty Matt.” Deb growled at him. He laughed, and sat down next to her.
“With legs like those you can’t be my Aunt.” He looked around the room. “What are we drinking?”
“I was waiting for you. A lady doesn’t buy herself drinks at a bar.” Matt laughed again, staring at her with an arched eyebrow.
“You, a lady? You crack me up!”
Deb wasn’t offended. She knew that Matt was inherently one of the biggest douche bags you’ll ever meet. He was overcompensating for a lot. She responded: “Just for that, you’re buying. Go get me a sex on the beach you little beast.”
Matt snorted, and stood up to go to the bar.
“Why would you want to see me Aunty? What can be so important?” He blatantly stared at a passing girl, looking at her like a hungry wolf.
“First get drinks, and then we talk.”
When he got back, she took a sip of her drink.
“How do you know Abigail White?”
Matt looked caught off guard.
“You mean Abi? She’s not actually my friend, but we do have occasional contact. Her friends are friends with mine. Why do you ask?”
Deb took a deep breath.
“Well, what can you tell me about her?”
Matt frowned, clearly confused.
