Legolas P.O.V
As I was returning from my latest orc hunt I was greeted by a guard who told me that my father had demanded to speak to me as soon as I arrived from my hunting trip.

Walking into the throne room I am greeted by my father.

"You called Ada?" I spoke.

"Yes I did," he replied. "Legolas, it has come to my attention that you spend your time out beyond the gates in the forests and I think it is about time you think of making a family of your own. Lord Elrond has the gift of sight and he has shared something with me. I believe it's best if you were to marry his youngest daughter, Rayne."

"I'm perfectly content with my life. I don't need to be married to someone I don't even know," I retaliate.

"You should know good to stay in your place. You maybe my son but that does not give you the right to raise your voice at me. I wouldn't propose this arrangement if it wasn't for the better of the kingdom. It will merge Rivendale and Mirkwood together."

"I will do as you say but do not expect me to love someone I do not know," I say coldly.

How does he expect me to marry someone I haven't even met? Marriage is a one time thing for elves. I just hope he is right about this.

The following morning I go early to the archery ranges and begin my morning practice. People think I'm a skilled warrior by nature but I've trained hard to become so. I need to be strong enough to be worthy of protecting them someday.

I wonder what she will be like? Will she be able to fight? What is her weapon of choice? A million questions ran through my head as I head footsteps.

"Prince Legolas, Lord Elrond has arrived," a guard notified me.

"Did he bring any company with him?" Is she here?

"No sir, he only brought two guards but the King requests your appearance at the Throne room. He said it was very important and to make sure you looked your best."

"Thank you. Tell him I shall be right over."

I quickly went to go change into a fresh change of clothes and headed down to the throne room.

"Good morning Lord Elrond," I greeted him and then my father.

"Lord Elrond and I were discussing the minor details about your engagement to his daughter. As per tradition the wedding will be held in approximately one year," My father said.

"When will she be arriving?" I question.

"In a few hours, there were orc sightings so I sent her down a different path with a ranger." Aragorn. "I actually wanted to discuss a certain matter with you King Thranduil."

"What is it?"

I zone out while the two speak with each other. They discuss wedding details and things that didn't peak my interest.

"Father, I believe it's my turn to guard the gates," I announce.

"Go, and keep an eye out for your Lord Elrond's daughter and the ranger." He paid no attention to me as I left the room.

Once I was at the gates all that was left to do was wait. It wasn't long until two horses approached the gates. The guards stopped them.
