Legolas P.O.V.
The real reason I wanted to go to our room was because I didn't like it that other men were looking at Rayne. They looked at her as if she was a prize to be won when she was my betrothed. We sat on the terrace that overlooked Mirkwood forest. Rayne poured the wine into two cups."How did it go?"
"It went well, Taurirl believes more will spawn but my father won't let us destroy them at the source. We've cleared the forest for the time being at least." I took a drink from my glass.
I saw as she held her glass in her hands and looked at the liquid as she spoke. "Legolas, I can't help but wonder if you have feelings for another. I know you've told me that you don't before, but I just can't help but ask."
"Are you asking about Tauriel?" She was the only she-Elf other than Rayne that I spend time with. She blushes and I can tell I was right. "Tauriel and I are only friends. Maybe I once felt something for her but that is long forgotten. She is like a little sister to me. Her parents died in an orc attack when she was just a baby and my father took her in. She's still fairly young being only 600."
She laugh. "We're ancient compared to her. I'm sorry I asked. I feel stupid."
"No worries, it's alright."
We found ourselves drinking more than we had originally thought. Our conversations were hilarious and crazy weird at the same time.
Rayne was snuggled up against me as we looked to the stars. We weren't drunk yet, probably tipsy but not drunk.
"Legolas," she muttered.
"Hmm? What's wrong?"
She shook her head. "Nothing, it's just we should head back. Everyone will be wondering where we went."
"As you wish."
Rayne has decided to dance with other men while I checked on the prisoners again. I just didn't feel comfortable with the way that filthy dwarf was looking at Tauriel earlier.
I walked down to the dungeon to hear that dwarf Kili and Tauriel talking. She was falling for him even if she knew it would never work. Maybe she herself wasn't aware of her own feelings.
I spent the rest of the party with Rayne by my side. I took her to a small lake that was hidden in one of the gardens at the palace.
"My mother used to bring me here when I was younger. This was a place that no one knew about. Just her and I. My father of course knew about it but he never came here with us," I explained to Rayne. "I want this place to run yours. There's a small gazebo over there with a bench where you can read."
She hugged me. "It's gorgeous. Thank you."
I smirk as I get a crazy idea. "How do you feel about swimming?"
"But I don't have any spare clothes."
I just laughed at her as I look off my cloak and shirt. In just my pants I jump into the lake. "Come on Rayne, the water is warm and wonderful."
"I-I can't swim."
"Don't worry, I'll hold on to you. Trust me."
She jumps into the water in her dress. I catch her and her arms wrap around my neck. "See? That wasn't so bad."
"Legolas, please don't let me go." She clings to me like a scared child.
"I would never dream of it my princess."
She looked so calm as she stared into the moonlight. Wrapping her arms around my waist she leans back until her head touched the water. I kept my hands on her waist to support her.
"I feel so free," she says as she wraps her arms around my neck again.
Her blond hair dripped water as her crystal blue eyes looked at me. She was so beautiful and perfect.
"What are you thinking?"
"About how beautiful you are. What about you?"
"About how strong you are." I could see a tint of pink on her cheeks. She was so honest and I loved that about her.
"Well I do train a lot. Come on, we need to get you out of the water before you get sick."
She laughs. "Elves don't get sick."
"Well it's getting late. Everyone is probably drink by now."
She didn't fight it and I carried her back out of the lake. Dripping in water I put on my shirt and notice that Rayne was shivering from the cold. I drape my cloak over her shoulders.
"Thank you."
I just smile and begin to walk back to our room.
Rayne is the first one to take a warm hot bath due to my constant nagging. The cold never really bothered me.
As soon as I walked out of the bathroom after taking my bath I notice Rayne sleeping. She looked so at peace. To think that the person who will yell at you for underestimating her or who is afraid of jumping into a lake could look so angelic.
As soon as I got into bed Rayne opened her eyes. "You weren't asleep?"
"I was just resting my eyes."
Then I remembered something. I grabbed a tiny box from my bedside table. "I forgot to give this to you today."
She opened the box. "It's gorgeous."
"It was my mother's, she gave it to me before she passed away. I want you to have it, so you'll have something to remember me by when I'm off on an orc hunt or clearing the forest from spiders. Just like the handkerchief you gave me is a reminder of you."
She kissed me on the cheek. "What did I ever do to get a guy like you."
"I could say the same thing. Why don't you lets put that ring on your finger?"
I carefully took it out of the box and slipped it on her ring finger. It fit just like a glove. Now everyone will know she's mine and no one else's. I know I was being a bit selfish but I guess that's what happens when you fall in love. Wait. Am I in love with her? I guess I am. I owe Tauriel an apology, she was right.

I can't help myself. I just felt like it was about time for them to figure out their feelings individually. I'm such a hopeless romantic sometimes. Anyways, I hope everyone is enjoying my story. Thank you if you've read at least this far. The picture at the top is the ring. Closest one I could find to what I had imagined.
I actually fell in love with Lee Pace the other day, the actor that plays Thranduil, and I've been driving my friend crazy. She keeps asking me, 'who do you like better, Legolas or Thranduil' or 'if you had to choose one who would it be?' Just a random little rant.
Don't be a silent reader, feedback and comments are welcomed.
P.S. I've planned to add in the story line of the Hobbit but I won't be writing word for word what happens in the movies or books. I'll follow the plot but it won't really be the main focus. Not that I don't love it but it's a fanfiction and I don't really want to make it too cliché either.
