I felt something rush past my face, and a few more hitting the tree that I was on, I slowly opened my eyes and glanced at the ground where a group of five girls were throwing stones at me. All I can say is that they have a terrible aim.
"How dare you talk like that to our Angel!" one of the girls said when she realized that I was awake, which was five minutes wasted when I could've gone to sleep, but I can't sleep with all these projectiles, no matter how horrible the aim, now can I? And as far as I remembered, I've never talked to 'your' Angel.
"Hew don't you go to sleep! We're no done yet!" another girl yelled at me. Ah how childish, everything about this world, incredibly childish. Then again, wasn't this 'game' targeted towards a young and pure maidens heart. In this way, it is entirely possible that everyone here had the heart of a child, unaware of the hurt their actions can cause.
"Hmph, you think you're so high and mighty, ignoring us like that!"
Well, I am the daughter of one of the dukes you know? So unless you are also one, I am still above you, but this is troublesome. School is troublesome, I'm not even learning anything. That concludes it, I'm not going to school.
"Hey! What's going on here?" a pure and angelic voice sounded out. So very pure, so very angelic. Instantly, everyone was captivated by it, all their hearts hatred and worries easily slipping away just like that.
I glanced down again to see Angel glared at the girls and spreading her arms out wide as if trying to protect me that was a few feet above her.
They all looked down in guilt, suddenly aware that what they were doing was a sin. If I didn't know, I would say that there was a third party involved in this utterly odd world. Imagine, a world that revolved around a single person, isn't that saying that this world would end soon?
Before having the chance to say anything to explain their actions, Angel already started berated them in an extremely familiar way.
"What I do, what she does, what does it have to do with you? So what if you like me, isn't it unreasonable to attack someone that has nothing to do with this? In which way did she offend you? She was merely sleeping!
Now, doing it for 'my' sake is what you're going to say, yes? But did I ever ask for this? Did you even bother to ask of my opinion? Did you think that she talked to me in that way is because she is familiar with me? Why, do I look hurt? Would mere words crush my spirit and make me cry to my grave? No matter what your excuses are, they are utterly useless!
Now, are you to glare hatefully at her because of my scolding of you? Don't you think, it is your fault in the first place? Your actions, did she force you to make them? Aren't you all stupid?" Angel said, immediantly seeing the past, present, and the future. Indeed, like my older sister I nearly forgot.
So I moved, to the branch, barely disturbing any other branches or leaves and using my magick to create a gentle breeze that would disguise any noise and movements that I made. Best to dissapear for now, I don't need memories of the past resurfacing like waves.
Luckily, they were to preoccupied to notice, or they were just dumb. I let out a small inaudible sigh as shifted to a more comfortable position before going back to sleep.
I opened my eyes, and for the second time in this life, I was greeted with white. I glanced at my father to see what he wanted now.
"I am proud of you, my daughter to be able to keep up with the rigorous training. But what I'm not proud of is the fact that you are a coward, running away from you're enemies!" his voice rising with ever word.
"Enemies?" I asked confused.
"Yes! Everyone that underestimated you! Those who bullied you! The people that didn't shower you with love and give you everything you want!" he said eyes flashing red. If you're angry then get angry at them, not me, was what I wanted to say. But it had to many words so I just went with,
"Hard work."
"Aren't you going to get revenge!?"
"....no," I tell him. My father suddenly remembered who he was talking to.
"I should've expected this, it's not fun watching you," he said suddenly depressed, he is trying to change me, isn't he? How subtle. Suddenly my mother appeared.
"What are you talking about? It's fun watching everyone get frustrated!" she said with a cheerful smile, "keep up the good work!" and with that she was gone like the wind. Not really, at least the wind stayed in the same world.
"But where'e the violence?"
I watched him leave in a puff of smoke, and went back to sleep. I don't think my father will be coming back in a long time. He should already know, I didn't take revenge then, why should I take revenge now. To take revenge for every single grievience I've expreinced, where's the joy in that? To live a life for the sole sake of revenge, how sad.
However, unwilling to retaliate doesn't mean that I am willing to forgive. Rather, I don't think I can, ever.
