Erica slid the key into the lock. She was more than excited to finally take a break from watching her sister. Don’t her wrong, she still loved her sister, but there were things that she needed to attend to, and she didn’t want to continue wasting time making a pointless effort to befriend her long lost sister. Erica didn’t even know why she tried anymore. Rheda was never going to love her the way she used to, before everything was ruined, when things were better, but also worse.

Once she heard the satisfying click of the lock being undone, she pushed the door open and gazed at the all too familiar darkness of Rheda’s cell. She hated that her sister was living every waking moment in a place such as this. Oh, the things that silence solitude must do to the mind. It must drive her into insanity.

Loki pushed past her and entered into the room. He glanced over the darkness in search for the woman, and then suddenly he spotted her. Rheda sat over into the corner, still covered in chains and what-have-you. In the deepest pit of his cold heart, he felt a small spark of pity towards her. He was somewhat glad that she was going to be released soon enough, perhaps even today. Rheda groaned and arose to her feet.

“Ugh! Such a pity-party. Truly, I am flattered that you are both thinking about me, but can you not do it at the same time. It causes the telepathic field to grow even stronger, which causes it to actually kind of hurt.” Erica rolled her eyes, flashed a quick smile at Loki, and then left the premises. Loki glanced over at Rheda, who was now leaning against the wall with her arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.

“What?” Loki asked, knowing fully what her demeanor was all about.

“It’s been a long time since I saw that face of yours. If I were more sentimental, I might have actually begun to miss it.” Rheda smirked and then glanced down at what Loki held in his hand, a book. Rheda’s smirked slowly disappeared and it was soon replaced with a smile. It was, in fact, her favorite book of all time.

“You are reading that? Wow, Erica is good. When do you plan on reading it?” Loki sat down on his usual bench, which he suddenly realized that he had somewhat missed.

“Like you don’t know, for you were probably listening in on our whole conversation.” Rheda sighed and raised her hands in a surrendering position.

“Alright, alright, you got me. Yes, I was listening, and it got me thinking.”

“About?”

“Erica suggested that you read it to pass the time as you watch me, correct?” Loki nodded in reliance.

“Well, a book such as that one should not be read with a careless voice. It should be read aloud with passion and knowledge that only an eldjötnar can produce.”

“So, what are you implying?” Loki said, knowing exactly what she was entailing. He simply wanted to antagonize her. It had been too long since his last mischievous act. He was in deep need and way over due for such actions.

“You know exactly what I am implying, now hand the book over.” Rheda said while extending out her hand towards him. Loki smirked and grasped her hand within his. He needed to let his mischievous side out, for he couldn’t contain it much longer. It needed release from its cage.
