Chapter 3: (Christina)
Eliot picked up on the first ring "hello?" he asked as if he didn't know who it was, even though I saw yesterday he had an iPhone that would have caller ID.
"Hi um this is Christina" this was going to be more awkward than I thought "um when is Nicolette's Birthday?"
"Tomorrow. You are coming to her party right?" Eliot asked innocently
"I'm not sure yet"
"Listen up, it mean the world to her for you to be there" he growled into the phone, the nice guy I met yesterday gone "if you don't show up with a happy face I will drag you here and glue a smile on your face."
"Oh look at my schedule just opened up." i say in fake surprise into the phone
"Wonderful!" he exclaimed "Nicolette there?"
I handed her the phone and she giggled into the phone a couple times and told him he must have worked wonders before turning her phone off. "What did he say to get you there?" she asked
"He threatened me" I grumbled
"You know what I don't want to know, I'm just glad you are coming" she decided, pretending I hadn't said anything.
For the last 5 minutes of the walk to the school, Nicolette gave me all the details. All I got out of her ramble was Eliot was picking us up at 3 to bring us to his house, this was her sweet 16 party, and they were getting the best pizza in the world for the party. I could definitely survive a party with pizza. I didn't interrupt her once until she got to the part about getting ready in her bathroom at his house.
"Wait" we stopped walking and I looked at her "you have a bathroom in your boyfriends house that is filled with all your girly stuff?" This didn't seem real
"Yeah" she blushed, a little embarrassed now. "My mom and I fight a lot and with my dad not around there is nowhere to go so I'll go hang out at his house for a couple days until my mom cools off."
"Ohh... Did you guys ever... you know..."I couldn't bring myself to finish that sentence
"No!!" she said, turning a deeper shade of red "he is always really nice letting me use the spare bedroom that he's started calling my room. But I only keep my stuff in the bathroom and the boys always are gentlemany and yeah." I laugh "what?" she demanded
"I don't think 'gentlemany' is a word" i giggle and she laughs to, grateful that I changed the subject. By now we are in the office, and I talk to the nice old lady from yesterday. She sends me to the guidance office down the hall and they help me sort out my schedule in a half hour. As we walk out Nicolette pulls out her phone to text someone.
"Who you texting?"
"Eliot is giving us a ride to the mall"
"He's shopping with us?" I ask worried, I didn't need a guy seeing me in clothes I probably wouldn't like
"Nope he is meeting some of his other friends and then he'll give us a ride home"
Eliot was waiting outside the school by the time we were by the front door. We hopped in his blue convertible, Nicolette reaching over from the passenger seat to give him a kiss on his cheek.
"I don't even want to know how long you've been out here" she said holding her hand up as he started to talk. I had to smile, it was obvious who had the power in this relationship. Then Eliot grinned, leaning over to whisper something in Nicolette's ear and she grinned, clapping her hands together
"Really!?" she asked, her eyes lighting up. He nodded grinning at her than me
"What?" I demanded
