Broken. I live in a messed up world. I do my best to hide it, but it hurts me the most. Broken, that is what I am. Life is not fair. People say that for everything. But it doesn't explain why I am picked on, or why my parents were hit by a car that was never found, or why after all these years Sean and I are now going to the same school.
I lay in my bed, doing everything in my power to suppress my power, to suppress the memory. Don't close your eyes. You can't sleep, Jade. No, Jade no. I can't fight it anymore. I'm to tired, sleep washes over me.
(Start of Flashback/Dream)
I got into the backseat of the car. The man drove me to the hospital. The woman who called me from the hospital took my arm and led me to my parents room. My parents were lying on the hospital beds, lifeless, their eyes closed. The woman who would later tell me that her name is Lola, took me out into the hallway. She handed me a file.
"We found this in the car. It was one of the only things that survived the crash," she said. I looked through the papers. They were signed divorce papers.
"W-What else did you find?" I asked, my eyes stinging with tears. She held up my mom's favorite necklace and handed it to me.
"I'm so sorry Jade." I looked into her eyes, startled by what I saw. Tiny bits of memories, I saw a little girl on Halloween holding onto her dads hand. I saw the same girl only older, running to her proud mother, she was wearing a cap and gown. I saw Lola's past and I saw something that I never would have ever again.
"Someone was able to take a picture of the man in the car before he sped away," she showed me a picture of a man sitting in a car. He was wearing sunglasses over his eyes and his jacket had a symbol on it.
(End of Flashback/Dream)
I woke up in a cold sweat, Tyler was standing at my door staring at me. "It happened again," I said turning on my light.
"You need to have better control," he looked worried, "What you blacked out in public?"
" I-I don't know."
"Jade it's okay. We'll figure something out," he turned to leave.
"Sean is back!" I yelled. He turned slowly, "Sean? You're telling me that your best friend from six years ago is back."
"Yes, I am." He looked at me, shock on his face, "Protect him." With that he left the room.
