It was nearly half six when I finished the files and dropped them off to my boss's secretary. I should have been finished at least an hour earlier but I kept picking up my phone and putting it down trying to decide whether or not call Harry. I couldn't deny that he was cute and he seemed nice enough. I threw my phone in my bag after deciding not to call Harry again. I started walking home. I walked in and wasn't shocked to find Elsa and Kate taking over my bathroom.
"Going out you two" I called hanging up my coat and taking off my heels. I already knew the answer and I already knew that they were going to force me to go.
I started shuffling through my dresses as Kate appeared beside me. "Not the red one love, you wore that two weeks ago" she said lightly reaching around and pulling out this blue lace dress that was almost too dressy for the club.
"Wear this! That cute guy that you're going to call will love it, blue is definitely your color." There she goes dropping Harry hints again.
I decided to keep the café incident to myself because I didn't need those two harassing me anymore than they really were. Kate was right, what would it hurt? I really did want to see that dimple again. I waited until they were securely back in the bathroom and I grabbed my phone from my bag. I quickly found his contact and pressed call before I could second guess myself.
5 rings later I was about to hang out when a raspy voice answered the phone. "Hullo? Who is this?"
"Umm...it's me Mel, from the c-"
"Oh! Mel, yes how could I forget? You saw me make a fool of myself in public twice" he said with a chuckle, I could see that dimple all the way from here.
"Yeah, that's me. I was uh...I was wondering if you wanted to come out with me and my friends tonight, they've been beg-"
"Of course, I'd love to" he said cutting me off excitedly. My heart rate returned to normal and I felt myself blushing as if he was standing right there.
"Oh, okay! I have no clue where we're going yet but I'll text you, yeah?"
"Sounds great, I'll be waiting. Bye Mel" and like that he was gone.
I locked my phone and did a slight happy dance before grabbing the blue dress and heading to the bathroom to join the girls.
"I see you've got the dress...does that mean you're going" Elsa said hopefully while rubbing the same lipstick from my mirror on her lips.
"Yeah, it does, as if I had a choice with you two! Oh and...I called Harry" I prepared for the screams as the words left my mouth and as soon as they processed what I said they started squealing like two schoolgirls.
"I can't believe you actually called him, way to go me for all the convincing" Kate said giving herself a high five. Elsa flashed her an "as if" look and then turned to me with her signature bright smile.
"We've got to make you look HOT, Mr. Harry won't know what hit him when he sees you tonight" she said already unzipping the dress and motioning for me to take off my top from work.
I shook my head at them two of them being ridiculous and unzipped my skirt preparing to slide the dress on. "Melody Reese Cole what are you wearing?! Those knickers look like they belong to my grandmother...the dead one!"
Kate shook her head at me before stepping out of the bathroom, I heard my drawers being flung open and then she returned with my single pair of lacy underwear.
"Put these on, now" she said tossing them at me and waiting for me to change.
What could I say? I was typical in every way even my underwear, I never went risky and tried to buy them from one of the sexy shops, I only owned this pair because Elsa and Kate had given them to me as a joke, I had never even worn them before. I stepped into the underwear and slid them up my thighs until they rested on my hips.
"Much better" they chimed in unison.
I giggled as I looked at myself in the mirror, I wasn't one to be vain but I looked good. After I got the dress on Elsa and Kate took over and transformed my hair and makeup into something from a magazine, it was almost too much but I liked it. I was stepping into my heels when I realized I hadn't yet told Harry where to meet us.
"Els? Where are we going, I totally forgot to tell Harry" I called as I hopped around on one foot looking for my phone and pulling on my other shoe at the same time, not an easy feat.
"Already taken care of dear, looking for this" she peered around the corner with my phone in hand and a wicked smile on her face.
"Let's go, you look absolutely stunning" she said grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the door. I still had no clue where we were going.
The car pulled up in front of Electric, it was more of a dance club than the more typical bar type place we usually went to. I was pretty sure I was over this whole going out thing but I was going to try to and enjoy it. We linked arms and walked inside smiling and laughing, we must have looked like a fashion ad, or at least we thought we did. We headed straight to the bar and as the bartender got to me a voice came from behind me.
"She'll take a soft drink mate, she is not much for alcohol."
I smiled and turned around to see him standing there doing the same. He was wearing a black shirt half unbuttoned, which I usually hated on guys but it looked great on him. There were tattoos peeking out on his chest and I was pretty sure I saw one I on his stomach but I was trying not to stare to much.
"Hey Mel, earth to Mel" he said snapping his fingers in front of my face and laughing.
"Uh...sorry. Hi" I said nervously chuckling and pushing a loose piece of hair behind my ear.
Surprisingly he stepped forward and grabbed me in a hug, he smelled like heaven.
"You look ravishing love" he said into my ear as he pulled away.
He had this charming, devilish grin on his face and he reached around me to grab my soda from the bartender. I took it with a smile and downed it, Kate and Elsa were already dancing and I wanted to join them.
"You know that wasn't a shot right" he said laughing and taking the empty cup from my hand and placing it back on the bar.
"I know, I just wanted to dance. Let's go yeah?" I grabbed his hand as he nodded at me.
I pulled him towards the center floor letting myself become more and more relaxed with every thump of bass through the speakers. We made it to the perfect spot on the floor and I dropped his hand but he picked mine right back up.
"What'd you let go for? Did you not take proper dance lessons in school, hand holding is practically required" he said with a wink.
I blushed a little but I went with it. I started to sway to the music and let it take me over, the next thing I know he was turning me around pulling me closer to him. I didn't question it as the music sped up and more people started to flood the space around us pushing us even closer together. His hands made their way to my hips, moving my body in time with his.
He leaned down and I felt his hot breath tickling my ear, "did I tell you that you look that you lovely tonight" he said softly lingering after he had finished speaking.
I nodded and spun around so I was facing him. "Did I tell you that you are a much better dancer than you are barista" I said wrapping my arms around his neck. I had no clue what was getting into me but I just wanted to be next to him.
I unwrapped myself around him and turned back around as his hands returned to my hips. The music turned into this really cool techno sound and I grabbed his hands and pulled him as close to me as he could get. I was never much for dancing in clubs, I usually talked shit about girls that we're doing exactly what I was doing but something about doing it with Harry made me not care. He pressed my hips towards him as we moved to the beat. I was completely lost in the music and I never wanted it to end. I felt his hands work their way up to my stomach and then he turned me back to face him. That devilish smile was back on his smile and I wrapped my hands back around his neck playing with the curls at the base of his neck.
"Let's get out of here" he said tilting his head towards the door.
He didn't have to ask me twice.
