"I'm sorry, but if she doesn't wake up by tomorrow then we are going to have to make an attempt at waking her through surgery." The doctor told me with a sigh.

I bit down on my bottom lip and looked over at Daisy. She had a 80% chance of waking up, 35% chance on carrying the baby. Which if they woke her up through surgery then it'd be definite that the baby wouldn't survive. A pang of sadness hit my heart, our baby wouldn't be able to survive.

"I'm goin' to go outside for some fresh air." I said quickly, looking over Daisy once more before bolting.

I lit a cigarette, hoping it would calm me down some. Johnny and Ponyboy came out of the hospital and spotted me.

"It's weird, I kinda hoped that the baby would be able to make it." I laughed dryly.

"Dal, we all want Daisy and the baby to be okay." Pony informed me.

"We wouldn't be able to bring a kid up right, at least not right now. Not with the way we live." I shrugged.

"I'm sorry." Johnny looked down.

I was confused on why he was apologizing, it wasn't his fault or anything. Did he really think this was his fault?

"Johnny, we didn't even know she was pregnant before she was shot. We all thought it was from how much stress and exercise she was doing." I told him as pulled him under my arm.

"Yeah, but I was the one who got taken and that's why she got shot." Johnny continued.

"No Johnny, listen. Daisy's stepdad was a fucked up man, still is. He wanted to take Daisy, that's why she was shot. He took you to mess with her. This ain't your fault." I explained and he nodded.

Daisy ended up not waking up, which meant surgery.

"I love you." I mumbled, kissing Daisy's hand.

"Sir, we gotta take her in." The doctor said and I sighed, letting them roll her away.

The whole gang and I sat in her hospital room, talking about any moment we had experienced with Daisy.

"She saved me." Johnny grinned.

"More than once; from the Socs, from my parents, from myself." His smile grew and Ponyboy tossed an arm around him.

"She makes damn good food, she saved me from starvation." Two-Bit cracked up and I smiled.

We went on for a while, I didn't realize we had spent a majority of the surgery time just reminiscing.

"Everything is looking good so far, she would've woken up on her own if she wasn't in such of a shock and with the pregnancy." A nurse informed us.
