I woke up wrapped in silky sheets on a king sized bed. The bed post was black and the sheets were navy blue. The room I was currently occupying was huge and dark.

I shot up in panic. Did he finally catch me? Was I finally brought back to the pack that tortured me every second they got?

 I started hyperventilating.

"You need to rest." His voice. It was so deep and melodic, I wanted to hear him speak again. I'd kill to hear my name rolling off his tongue.

I looked over at him, and found that he was standing at the window with his arms crossed over his chest. He gazed out of the window with icy eyes, cold and calculating. His muscles rippled with every small movement he made. He was a fine looking specimen, and here I am, sleeping in his bed.

"I can't." I answered him, burning holes into his muscled back with my eyes, urging him to turn around so that I may see his front profile.

He wouldn't look at me. I stood up from the bed, walking away from him and the weird feeling he gives me in my tummy. I found that I was changed into a short silky slip that was the deep color of blood.

"Where do you think you're going?" Ace snarled at me, his eyes pure metallic silver.

I don't even spare him a glance as I throw open his bedroom door.

 "Out."

"So my brother huh?" Lola smirked at me.

I sat on her bed in her room. She had informed me that we were in the pack house and that we were located in the outskirts of the city.

I looked out her window and saw green shrubbery everywhere. Trees were scattered here and there, providing enough covering for the packs to run in wolf form without much danger.

I looked at Lola, no humor on my face. "I didn't choose him."

Lola laughed. "Of course you didn't. You can't choose your mate, it's something that is decided as soon as you're born. Sometimes before then."

"You don't have any room to give me mate advice." I snapped at her. Immediately I regret it afterwards. She's been nothing but nice to me, and I've been a complete ass to her.

"I-I'm sorry. I've built myself up to be this big bad person, when in reality, I'm just scared." And it's true. Ever since I ran away from my pack, I've refused to let anyone in. I push everyone away. "Of everything."

"No it's not your fault. You're right. Who am I to give mate advice?" Lola said solemnly.

She was sitting on her bed. She grabbed a pillow and pulled it towards her. "He wouldn't even tell me why he rejected me. We were best friends before he found out we were mates."

"Lola, you should talk to him. You can't just pretend like he's not your mate. He at least owes you an explanation." I explained from my seat on her window sill.

 "You're right."

I don't know how I found my way to the library, and yet here I am. I've always been drawn to books. Even as a child, I've always found books to be my escape from reality.
