"LOLA!" Mackenzie yelled before jumping on me and wrapping around me like a koala bear. I started giggling when she started kissing all over my face.

"What are you doing?" I laughed before pushing her off of me gently. Mackenzie stood in front of me with the goofiest grin on her face.

"Where have you been? I've missed you Peaches." Mackenzie pouted.

I grimaced at the childhood nickname she used. "I've been in school. You know, in the city."

"You didn't call me for three months because you've been going to school with humans?" Mackenzie asked, all emotion wiped from her face. "You've got to be kidding me."

I laughed at her serious face. "I'm being as serious as a heart attack."

"I ought to kick you in the face." Mackenzie lightly threatened. "Come on, there's something I want to show you."

-------------

"Mackenzie, just because you've been home schooled most of your life, does not mean I have to be home schooled too." I laughed.

"It's not my fault the school system here hates me!"

"Mack, literally you throat punch any one at school who so much as looks at you funny. How is that not your fault?"

She threw her hands up in exasperation. "There you go, bringing up the past again."

We walked into her one floor house. It was very spacious and all the windows were up. Everything was put away neatly, and not an ounce of dirt could be seen on the floors. The house was spotless.

"What is it that you wanted to show me Mack?" I asked, looking around her house in wonder. I haven't been inside this house in years. I moved in the city five years ago, to get away from all the pack rules, and to try to be normal. I lost contact with Mackenzie two months ago because I turned my phone off. My brothers kept calling to keep tabs on me, and it was irking my soul.

She turned around to smirk back at me, but didn't say a word. We trekked across her living room floor, and entered her dining area. Inside the dining room was a medium sized bookshelf. That's what she was looking for.

The book shelf was a high reach, but Mackenzie had no problem reaching for the book she wanted, her long and slender legs giving her a boost.

"Come look." She motioned me over to where she stood with the book propped open on the table. I looked and saw that it was a really huge photo album that seemed to be a few decades old now. Dust covered the whole thing as if it hadn't been touched in years.

"What's this?" I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me.

She flipped a few pages of the album, and with a small laugh she pointed to a very small picture of three little kids playing in a pool. At a closer examination, I found that the three kids were Lola, her brother, and I. Her twin brother, Trent. My mate.

In the picture, Lola was in the pool with her hands in the air. She had just splashed Trent who was caught midway throwing me into the pool. In my small chubby hands was a water hose, as I had been trying to fill the pool up some more.

I looked at the smiles on our faces and I let out a deep sigh. A smile over came my face as I noticed how happy Trent used to be before the accident. Before it all went South.

My fingers grazed over the picture softly, tears brimming my eyes that I refused to let fall in front of his sister. My best friend.

"Mack, where did you find this?" I asked her, whispering without knowing why. As if the sound of my own voice would make this perfect picture of happiness go away.
