I cried in the bathroom for the remainder of the class period with Nick holding me. Every time someone would walk in Nick would quietly wave his hand at them indicating that they needed to leave. I felt like such a baby but at the same time I felt safe which is a rare feeling for me. As I finally calmed myself down Nick pulled away from me and looked into my eyes.
"Joshy....... how are you feeling?" He asked me with concerned eyes. "You know that train from the Polar Express? Ya I feel like it ran me over and then backed up to see what it hit." He smirked at my answer, "At least your making jokes, that's a good sign." "Unless I only make jokes to mask my pain." "I think you make jokes because you know that your funny and that even if the jokes are dumb people will still laugh."
I smiled at him and nodded my head in agreement. He stood up and extended his hand out to help me up. I grabbed his arm and winced because I had been sitting for so long that I was all stiff. He walked me over to the sink and then checked if the bathroom was empty before locking the door. I was unsure of what he was doing at first until he came back over to me and slowly rolled up my sleeve.
"Oh Nick you don't have to help me." I was still secretly hoping that he would though. "Its no problem, I've been through this before." I looked at him but he was focusing on cleaning the dried blood from my arm. I wanted to ask what he meant by that but I figured it would be rude of me to do that. He cleaned up my cuts and then pulled a new bandage out from his back pocket and proceeded to cleanly wrap my arm.
After he was done he looked at his phone and was checking the time I assume. "Well I know that its only second period but it would probably be best if you went home, especially if your still dizzy." I could feel my face go pale at the thought of going home and Nick must have noticed as well because he immediately got a worried look on his face.
"What's wrong Josh? Did I say something wrong?" I quickly changed my face and smiled at him. "No its just that I was thinking that you should probably get back to class and I should head home like you said." "Ohhhh no. I am not letting you drive yourself home in this state of mind. If something happened to you then i would be responsible." "But don't you have football practice and everything after school? You have that big game coming up and if you don't stay at school you cant practice, and if you cant practice you wo-" Nick quickly pressed his lips against mine getting me to instantly stop rambling.
It was just a quick peck and then he pulled away. "Good I never thought you would shut up." I glared at him for ruining this perfectly good moment we were having. "You don't worry about a thing Joshy. I am amazing at football as it is, I don't have to go to this practice." "But Nick of you don't go then you could miss something important and the-" He pressed his lips against mine once more and gently cupped my cheeks in his hands.
"Joshy its kind of a turn on when you try to change my already made up mind. If you keep it up we might have to play football in my bed, the tackle kind." I blushed at his words but also smiled. Somehow even when I was having what could be known as the worst day of my life he still managed to make it better.
I knew that there was no way that I was going to be able to convince him to stay behind but maybe he can just drop me off and then leave. I also knew that he thought that I was being abused at home (which I was) so he probably wouldn't let me go inside my house alone either. I wrestled with my thoughts all the way to my house and was surprised when he pulled into my driveway considering that I hadn't even given him any directions.
