Friday.
I get a headache every time I remember that day. What I have been scared of the most, happened and worse.
I still do not understand why among all the people and all the places, it was James who was there. He saw me in one hell of a state. Hopefully I've managed my cold resting bitch face to clearly show him his limits.
However, I am relieved it rarely occurred me but the pills are weirdly not doing their job anymore. I am even having some sleeping troubles.
Speaking of James, I don't know what is up with that guy.
I continue to meet him in my worst moments.
Ugh, why can't I just forget it.
"Yay! It has been a while since teachers made a reunion, cancelling all the sessions." Emma jumped excitedly as we stepped out of the classroom, she always explains that it's not hatred feelings she gets towards school, she just rather be somewhere else.
"Yeah, that's cool." I tried to fake a smile, so it won't come like it has a sarcastic tone.
Emma and I grown a little close, I've been seeing her more often, we even meet out of school sometimes. She never fails to lighten my mood up, that adorable and caring person that lives inside of her, made me feel so comfortable with her. She even defends me, whenever one of these bitches dared to droop their mouths open to talk bullshit about me.
Is this what friends are like? No idea.
Still, I kind of felt guilty, when she exposed her secrets to me, while I can't let her know about mine.
"Any plans?" Emma asked, bringing me back to reality.
"Em, I am not sure...you would probably find me somewhere in the library, having my nose inside some of those hilarious books."
"NO WAY" she exclaimed with a various mixed emotions showing up on her face.
"What!" I chuckled at her priceless face expressions.
"I can't deny that reading is actually a good way to escape from this creepy world we have our feet on, but seriously! You have to enjoy yourself once in a while." She stopped, pretending to be thinking about something.
"Thanks but no thanks, I am really not in the mood." I exclaimed.
"Erm, what about one of those popular boys' parties, believe me, you'll never regret attending one." She waited for me to reply and when it didn't come, she continued "Cmon, pretty please." She begged with a pair of puppy eyes attached to her angelic face, it was kind of irresistible, but I had to reject her offers for my personal reasons.
"Not today, next time maybe." I tried to made up a lame excuse, but nothing came.
"Next time is now, Hailey." I swear Emma is insisting on taking me to some party. I had never been to one before, I don't know how would it feel.
"Fine. If my mother allows me to go to this party first." I replied as I smiled to myself, knowing how over-protective is mom due to my -hum- super healthy state. She will not accept.
****
The doorbell rang. I looked up from the novel I am reading as I checked the time.
Huh? Who would it be?
I didn't get up from between my papers and wait for mom to open the door.
It is maybe one of her guests.
I don't why, but I actually have a bad feeling about this -oh so enjoyable- party we are planning to attend tonight. A part of me is telling me to don't.
In the other side, Emma and mom are freaking excited about it.
Oh, mom.
I better not tell you about her reaction once she knew about Emma's hell of plans tonight. She is probably the weirdest mother on the earth.
"Sure!" She excitedly replied "Where is it going to be?"
My mouth drooped open at the reply. "Wait! What? Are you aware that you are allowing me to go to a much less high school party without ABSOLUTELY any adult supervision, full of underage drunk teens?"
I can't believe my ears.
"Did she accept? Active the speaker!" Emma whispered, sticking me to listen to the conversation.
"Hailey. Chill, it is just a party!" She exclaimed.
"There is no reason for me to prohibit you from going there, you are not alone. Your friend Emma is with you, enjoyy!" She added as she hunged up the phone on my nose.
"YAS! YAS!" Emma jumped, laughing hysterically.
I have no choice now.
I shook my head trying to forget about the horrible phone call from earlier as the doorbell ringed again.
Oh, wait. I am home alone.
I, lazily, got off of my bed and headed to open.
"I am coming, geez!" I exclaim, frustrated when the doorbell ringed a third time. That person on the other side of the door, probably doesn't know about the word PATIENCE. I rushed to the door and widely open it.
"Oh, that's you" I exclaimed as I stared at Emma holding a suitcase.
"You are early, or?" I tried to figure out the reason she came that early. She and her brother are supposed to pick me up at 20h.
"OH! Unless, your family has organized a last minute family trip and we are not attending the party anymore" I exclaimed in excitement.
"Too early? You mean we're too late." she murmured as she stepped on the house. "So where is your room?"
Too good to be true.
What is the suitcase for then?
"Follow me" I sighed.
*****
My mouth drooped open as I saw the amount of clothes or should I say dresses on my bed, things I mainly don't consider as clothes and heels on the floor, several different colored of heels, another piece I haven't tried before.
"Uh, would you mind to explain why your clothes are drying off in my bed?" I asked, confusion obvious on my tone.
"You are certainly not planning to attend a party on a pair of jeans" She explained while filing her nails.
"Why not?"
"Whoa you are really something, Hailey" She held her head as a sign of disappointment.
My last wish is to be safe for the whole night. I feel otherwise though.
