Forsaken

The tour

I smiled watching Aaron pick up Theo, smitten was one word for it. "Dude, don't bounce him, he'll barf." Zak warned.

"Can you say Star Wars yet?" Aaron asked Theo making me giggle and bite into the toast I was eating.

Theo's eyes shot to the sound of the crunch. He whinged extending his hands to me. "Come on then. I've been waiting for a cuddle. You are simply scrumptious." I spoke as Aaron passed Theo over. However his interest wasn't for me, it was for the toast as he grabbed it and shoved it into his mouth.

"Oh.. Maria I'm sorry." I spoke looking worried.

"He's a chunk. Don't sweat it. Aaron tries to ply him with fruit and crackers. The last one was yoghurt. I have no idea how Theo managed to get it down his back.. But there we go. You don't mind.. Do you?" She asked looking at me.

"Absolutely not. My gran always told me never to stop a child from eating." I smiled sharing my toast.

"What if they don't stop eating?" She laughed.

"There is nothing wrong with my boy. Look at him, he's gonna be strong, like his dad." Zak grinned.

"Hmm You are another one who doesn't st- Will you stop eating?" She asked taking the apple off him.

"It's an Apple." Zak pouted hiding the orange he had in his hand.

"Hand it over Bagans." She spoke holding her hand out.

"I've licked it." He smiled slipping away to peel it open.

"You're a fibber. Honestly Father like son." Maria answered looking at Theo who was happy noshing.

Once my plate was empty Theo pushed up off my legs to stand on my thighs and look around.

"What are you doing monkey?" I asked holding his sides.

His hands came down pulling on  Aaron's top I was wearing, sliding down he nuzzled in.

"Awh this is nice." I hummed rocking back and forth with him.

I loved children, they were curious little things. I loved to watch their perspectives on life, some children I had spoke to had clearer minds than most adults.

"Are you joking?" Zak asked looking at me.

I looked up at him "Sorry?"

"I- What did you do?" He asked narrowing his eyes at me suspiciously.

"I- I didn't do anything." I answered beginning to worry at what was going on.

"How did you get him to sleep? Two nights of no sleep. How? I need notes, details, everything." He spoke as Maria poked her head over his shoulder to check her little boy.

"Well I'll be damned." She smiled.

"This is okay? I'm not in trouble?" I asked looking between them.

"Hell no!" Zak laughed making Maria hush him with a quick slap of his arm. "Sorry, no but I've tried everything. He doesn't settle with me, I thought that maybe he was teething. I obviously take the nights as me and Aaron do lockdowns."

"Do you want me to take him?" Maria asked quietly.

"I-" Looking down at the little face I couldn't help but smile. "He's okay, I'm enjoying the cuddle." I admitted.

"I like her." Maria pointed to me whilst speaking to Aaron before taking a seat beside me.

After an hour Zak carefully took Theo from me and placed him on his chest. "I love moments like these, reminds me of when we first had him." Zak smiled placing a kiss on his forehead.
