To Clarke's surprise the rescue party followed the deal a few months later. After a few phone-calls, meetings and confirmation emails, Clarke found herself standing next to Lexa surrounded by body guards in front of an old beaten down factory, at a safe distance of course. Clarke thought it was a necessity for her to be present at the break in, and Bellamy came for protection. Other than them, the police, some military force and personel, Lexa's security team and Lexa herself were also present.Clarke tried to stay calm, be it the whole 'breaking into a national underground mafia-clan-gang base' or standing next to Lexa, her heart seemed to beat so hard. She tucked her hands into the coat she wore, subtly checking that her ribs were intact from her crashing heart. During the last few weeks, Clarke could stay professional, but she couldn't keep ignoring the fact that whenever she was near Lexa her body would go into haywire and barely cooperate with her. At one meeting Clarke almost died because she had to sit right next to her. Clarke almost went to the doctors to see if she had contracted some tropical disease. Multiple times, Lexa has caught the blonde looking at her, even when Lexa wasn't presenting or talking. At least she hasn't made an enormous fool of herself, or at least not yet.
"Why did you never tell the government where this place was? The police has been trying to track down Trikru for years." Bellamy asks Lexa as they watched the gunmen surround the place and prepare themselves for entry. Bellamy eyed Lexa, still untrusting of the business woman.
"I told them everything I knew. By the time I escaped, all entries known to me where blocked. I had no way in." Lexa says without looking away from the unfolding scene. Bellamy nods in comprehension and Clarke watches the gunmen break down a door and enter one by one in a practiced format. The clouds glazed over the blue sky, and a cold and serious mood seemed to take over everyones high spirits.
Clarke held her breath and listened to the walkie-talkies of all the guards who yelled 'clear!' as they ran down staircases and checked the floors.
Lexa saw the breath Clarke had been holding, and felt a twinge at the blonde's discomfort. Perhaps she thought Lexa had lied to her, her true purpose only to cheat the blonde.
"Hey. This will work." Lexa says, surprised at the compassion in her own voice. Clarke turns to Lexa and nods, brushing off the fact that the brunette had tried to comfort her. The group moved further in, almost giving up as monotonous the walkie talkies echoed each other. The brunette focused intently on the factory, more grimy and abandoned now that Clarke took a closer look at it. She stole a glance at Lexa, her lime green eyes calculating and intense. Clarke couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking at times like these. Lexa seemed to be vigilant and proactive, yet refused to acknowledge the fact that she had a benevolent character. Clarke learned that Lexa didn't smile often, as a matter of fact she couldn't remember her smiling at all. She liked to think that Lexa wasn't a stone cold statue, she admired her passion and her circumventing business strategies, but Clarke thought Lexa could win awards with only her smile. She began to pick up small things about Lexa, as creepy as Raven thought this was, it came naturally. For example, Lexa never drank water, never, Clarke wasn't even sure how she was alive. She kept a hand sanitizer in her purse at all times, and shifted and clenched her jaw more times that she can count.
In fact, Lexa shifted her jaw softly now, drawing Clarke to focus on the present. Less and less updates came from the radios, at this point all military personal were absorbed into the factory, leaving only the business team and police surrounding them on the outside.
Minutes passed until she heard a female gunmen yell "I found them!". The energy of the group became frantic, Lexa's posture straightening and her eyes snapping into a more attentive stance. More ruckus came over the radio and the military personal emerged from the beaten down factory.
