Lexa paced back and forth in her office, the overwhelming stress had started to take a physical strain on her body. Her heart rate was fast due to the excessive amount of coffee had been drinking, or Clarke's unexpected visit which she would definitely need to make up for. Lexa could practically feel the guilt weigh down her heart but she couldn't afford the distractions, not now. These days she could barely pick up her coffee mug from her lack of strength. She wasn't sure if the pain in her chest was emotional or physical at all."Reports just came in, the police can't find a trace of the gang." Lincoln entered the office without notice, his eyes were weary and he resembled Lexa's fatigue.
His voice broke Lexa's train of thought, dragging her down to the cold reality she was keeping from Clarke. Lexa regained her tranquil character, holding her chin high and straightening her poster.
"Submit an expression of dissatisfaction."
"Lexa we've submitted sixteen, the police won't accept anymore." Lincoln replied, reading off a tablet that undoubtedly had a considerable amount of emails. Lexa ran a hand through her hair, the frustration building up in her but she would not give up.
"Make it seventeen or threaten to press charges." Lexa said calmly, successful at keeping the exasperation out of her voice.
"Lexa."
"Make a formal complaint, do security runs, send out guards, do something!" The brunette started shouting as every attempt she made to end Trikru's misdeeds led to a dead end; it seems no matter what she did, everything led to a dead end.
"Lexa calm down." Lincoln said comfortingly, his warm voice brought Lexa down from her heightened vexation. "The only thing we can do now is wait."
Lexa sat down in her chair, threading her fingers together in thought while keeping her face inscrutable. With the remainder of Trikru in hiding, everything Lexa had built is at risk. When she had been informed of the unsuccessful police break she understood that the representatives are dangerous, resulting in the whole day being a chaotic nightmare with the police.
"Get some sleep. Go home." Lincoln said, tucking his tablet in arms. Lexa's stole a glance at her friend and colleague, she noticed how his eyes drooped and his blinks were sluggish and slow. The past few days the lack of jokes and Lincoln's light humor was lacking, which Lexa thought was the result of Octavia's leave. Never less a dark mood had settled in Debnam Head-Quarters and the terrible news had just seemed to darken it.
"We can't afford anything going public, keep this out of the press." Lexa replied. Lincoln bowed his head slightly before turning around and leaving Lexa's office. As the sound of the door shutting filled the room, Lexa felt the immense stress cloud her mind and took a breath. This was not going to be easy.

"Care to tell me why I've been interrogated three times today?" Anya asked as she barged into Lexa's office. By the tone of her voice Lexa could guess that Anya already knew the answer.
"Anya get out." Lexa said sternly, massaging her temples as the computer's screen started to burn her eyes. Anya closed the door behind her as she realized that she would be in here for a while.
"I can't release it to the press and you know why." Lexa replied, not looking away from her laptop as she scanned every report the police had sent her.
"I don't care about that. Just tell the police I'm innocent, they'll listen to you." Anya plopped down on the office couch after moving a pile of reports of the way.
"Well they're not listening to me now." Lexa huffed as a new email informed that another one of the police's leads led to a dead end.
"Can't you just pay them?" Anya asks as she absent-mindedly analyzes a recent police report. "Aye, my names on here." Anya says, smiling as she pointed to her name that was listed under possible suspects.
"Anya that's not a good thing, I told them you were under my care but that won't hold them off for long." Lexa slammed her laptop closed as she got notified of fifteen other emails, all confirming that the police had hit another dead end. "With all these dead ends, soon Lincoln and Indra will be taken in for questioning too."
Anya hummed as she saw Lincolns name a few spaces after hers.
"What about you?" Anya asked, getting bored of the report and sitting in front of the mini fridge as she ransacked it with all the snacks she could find.
"The police are terrified of me, they wouldn't dare. After all nothing-, what are you doing?" Lexa looked up to see Anya carrying half of the fridges contents in her arms and then dumping them on the couch.
"Girls gotta eat." Anya replied with a monotone voice, picking up a candy bar and examining it. Lexa kept her anger in control, knowing that if she lashed out at her cousin it would result in a war.
"I thought you got a job." Lexa opened her drawers as she searched for a notepad as Anya tore open the candy bar with her teeth.
"I did, I have a great job, I make a lot I mean.." Anya lost her confident aroma for a brief moment before finding an easier topic.
"Really?" Lexa asked, clearly surprised. "What do you do?"
"Oh you know.... dance." Anya says, scratching her nose.
"Dance?" Lexa asks, clearly confused. She made a mental note to hire a private investigator to find out Anya's real job."Why do you have so much candy?" Anya asked, steering away from the conversation.
Lexa held her breath as she processed the question, remembering Demetria's love for candy; even if Lexa detested every kind.
"It was for Demetria. She visited a lot." Lexa said cautiously, lucky for her, Anya had been too engrossed in the chocolate goods she had.
"I doubt she came here alone." Anya said as she opened licked her fingers after finishing her snack.
Lexa swallowed a lump in her throat as she recalled her argument with Clarke. She had always thought that by pretending to be emotionless and forbidding herself to get close with anyone, it would make herself invincible. But pretending didn't help anymore, pretending she wasn't tired, pretending she had no emotions, pretending that Clarke's words hadn't hurt.
Lexa felt Anya's questioning look and she became aware of the heavy silence.
"Clarke came with her." Lexa said simply. She felt so unworthy saying her name, but she couldn't falter right now. The more emotion she showed, the more danger she put everyone in.
"And why aren't you with them now?" Anya pressed, opening another package but nevertheless being interested in the topic.
"I have to keep them safe."
