Today was the big day. I'm going to a new school to study magic now. This is what I've been waiting for my entire life after all. It started out as just a small feeling. But as I grew up I noticed it more and more. I once even tried to summon a cat familiar! Silly right? Although I have been close to animals my entire life, summoning them....yeah I don't think I could do that. I heard a soft knock at my door while starting out my window.

"Ready to go Violet?" Said my mom from the other side of the door.

"Yeah mom, just give me a second. I'll come downstairs in a minute."

I wasn't quiet ready to go yet but I knew what awaited me. And I was excited. My whole life I've grown up with no magical contact in the slightest and now I'm entering a school where we only learn magic!! This was a big part of my life! I was finally getting to experience something..... amazing! I walked as slow as I could downstairs and finally reached the door. My mom was waiting for me with a reassuring smile. She must be going through a lot right now. I feel so bad for her. First her husband died and now I'm moving off to go study magic and save a kingdom. She began to move towards me and I snapped out of my trance.

"You okay honey...? You look dazed" she said with a worried look.

" Oh of course! Just uhm thinking. I had a question too. Uhm what about the locket that dad mentioned in the will? What is it exactly....?" I said.

"Oh yes! Your father said that when you feel you need it, it's true potential will unlock. Other than that it's just a gorgeous piece of jewelry." She chuckled. "Now let's hurry and get in the car. We have a long ride ahead of us."

"Great great." I said. We walked out to the car and I prepared for the long ride by popping in my earbuds, turning on some Spotify and closing my eyes. Soon enough I was asleep. In the middle of the ride my mom woke me up at the gas station to ask if I needed a drink. I replied with the usual. An peach Arizona tea and a honey bun.

While she was out I saw a familiar figure. I couldn't quite place where I've seen this person but they had on a black hoodie. They were standing against the concrete wall staring at me with eyes I couldn't see. Then I saw something that made my heart stop. Yellow hair tips. Yellow freaking hair tips. You know the only person who has yellow hair tips?! Cassandra! While I was in full freak out anger mode I heard a knock on the window. It was my mom. I wasted no time unlocking the door and pulling her into the car.

"Step on it mom!!!" I yelled. "I'll explain later but we have to leave right now!" I was relived when she actually followed my directions. Maybe she sensed what was going on, but either way, I was happy we were gone. When we got a good 2 miles away I was calmer.

"So, you care to explain what happened back there?" She said a little irritated. "And why you felt the need to yell at your mother? That's twice in two days missy."

"Mom I can explain" I started to say. "So after you went into the gas station I saw a hooded figure standing outside of the station. It felt all too familiar but I couldn't quite place what it was. So I looked closer and guess what I see pecking out from the hoodie. Yellow hair tips. The only person it could've possibly been was Cassandra. I freaked out and yelled. I'm sorry about that mommy. I didn't mean to yell at you I just felt so....so...I dunno I had a weird energy flowing through me. One I can't quite place." She sighed.

" I knew this was coming. We can't make anymore stops honey in sorry. You'll be safe at the school there's a force field around it that keeps out anyone that doesn't have good intentions." She said with a worried expression. "Good news is your powers are getting stronger every second. That energy you felt was your powers. I could feel it too. I knew something was wrong before I got to the car and when you started telling it was definitely a red flag and we needed to get out of there. I'm sure Cassandra could feel your presence. I know you probably have plenty of questions but they'll get answered once we get to school. You'll be much much safer there and so will I."
