Chapter 8: Meeting Chase

I followed Madi off of the campus and into the town square. We had the best time! She showed me wonderful foods there. I ate a delicious pastry filled with strawberry jam. We also happened to stumble upon a music festival at around 3 pm and we danced our hearts out until 6 pm. I was so tired I could pass out.

We set up a little blanket in the park and look up at the stars for about half an hour while sipping fresh apple cider from a stand we visited earlier.

"Hey I'm gonna go wash my hands in the fountain, I'll be right back okay?" Madi said.

"Okay I'll wait here" I told her.

She walked off towards the direction of the fountain while I stayed, relaxing and looking at the stars. They sure are bright over here. I wonder why. We can't be too far from the city right? I'll have to ask Madi that when she comes back. Then I heard a rustling in the bushes next to me. I shot up and looked over to my left where the bushes were. I heard a soft purr coming from inside.

"Hello? Is someone there?" I asked my voice shaking with fear.

My first day at school and I was already going to be ambushed! I gathered my courage, what little I had to begin with, and began to walk over to the bush. Suddenly a small black cat jumped out and into my arms. I screamed and people walking on the path looked at me weirdly. I looked at the cat and it just stared up at me with anticipation. I walked back over to my blanket at set the cat down. It simply meowed at me and crawled back into my lap. Something about this seemed so.....familiar. That's it! This cat is exactly what I wanted my cat familiar to look like and act like! I finally summoned a cat familiar! How? I have absolutely no idea, but I was happy nonetheless. I decided to name my cat familiar Clara. She, I'm assuming it's a girl, is going to be my life long friend! I know what you're thinking. How could you just find a random cat and think you summoned a familiar, you don't even know what your powers are yet! Well too bad so sad. I can just feel it okay?

Madi came back and she saw me with Clara.

"Awww, I didn't know you had a cat! What's his or her name?" she asked.

"Well I just summoned her and I named her Clara." I told her.

"Woah you can summon familiars?!" she exclaimed. "I couldn't do that for a while. You must be crazy talented. How long have you had your powers?"

"Actually not very long I think just a few days. Well I mean I just found out about them a few days ago that is." I said trailing off. "Actually I have a question for you, why are the stars so bright here? We can't be too far from the city and the stars aren't nearly as bright there."

She scoffed. "Don't tell me you're that clueless." After she saw the look on my face was serious she started again. "Wow you are that clueless! Well first of all you're in the kingdom of Crysalin. Here things are different than your home. You have to pass through a portal where only elementalists can get through, I suppose you do know of the great war correct?" I nodded. "Good well that's a start. You have a lot to learn young grass hopper. But we should save it for some other time. I'm sure you're exhausted. I know I am so let's head back. By the way my element is earth. I'm sure you could tell already from all the green. But what you didn't know is that I'm also a fairy. That's right. A real life fairy. Now that's out of the way we can really go back."

We walked back in silence. I was still in awe from what she said earlier. I still can't believe I'm roommates with a fairy! When we reached the dorm room I unlocked to door to find Clara relaxing on my comfy bed. I'm not sure how she got there but she did. I plopped down on the bed next to her and fell asleep.

I woke up to the sweet sound of music and pancakes and bacon cooking. Madi was still asleep so I went into the kitchen to see who was cooking. Turns out we have a kitchen that can cook food all by itself! I grabbed a plate and sat back down on my bed. As soon as I was done with my food there was a light tap on the door.

I opened it up to see a small pixie floating in mid air with a package in her hands. She handed it to me and went off before I could even say thank you.

I locked the door and went back into my room and sat on my bed with the package. I opened it and inside I found a white blouse with a grey jacket and a grey pleated skirt uniform and a brown portfolio case thing. It was kind of bland but I was guessing that since I just got here this is what I would get until I moved up a level. I put on my uniform in the bathroom and fixed my fuzz on top of my head that I call hair. I stepped out and Madi was already dressed and had a little portfolio looking case with her that was similar to mine. Her uniform was green which suited her well because of her element.

"You haven't figured out which element you are yet?" She asked with her head slightly tilted.

"Yeah how'd you know?" I said back.

"Well first yesterday you told me you found out you had powers not too long ago and second you're wearing a grey uniform." She said.

"What does the color of my uniform have anything to do with you knowing I haven't discovered my element?" I asked.

"In our school we have uniforms that match out elements. For example blue is water, red is fire, green is earth, white is air, black is darkness, and so on so forth. When you have a grey uniform it means you haven't discovered your element yet. Very few people haven't but I suppose that makes you....special in a way?"

As if I wasn't already special enough. Come to think of it, I didn't see any student with grey uniforms on. Great. My first real day at school and I'm already the odd one out. Isn't this gonna be an adventure.

"Well thanks for giving me the heads up." I grumbled. " Can you help me get to my classes? This school is huge and I'm gonna get lost so I may need help."

"Of course what's your schedule?" She asked.

"Well I have Potions Making, Advanced Etiquette, Control and Magic Ethics, Protective Magic and  Spells, Healing Magic, Mathamancy, Dimensional Manipulation, History of Magic, Weaponry, Familiar Creation and Bonding, Divining and Mentalist Magic. I know I know it's a lot bu-" I was interrupted by a knocking at the door.

I went over an opened it. There I saw a boy with light red eyes and hair as black as night. I could feel my heart fluttering at the mere sight of him.

"Get a grip Violet! You've only just seen him!" I said silently to myself. We stared at each other for what seemed like hours until he finally broke the silence.

"Are you Violet?", he said in an annoyed tone.

"Yes and who might you be?" I asked.

"My name is Chase and I'm going to be escorting you around the school." He said.

Well this is great I have to be babysat for the day.

I turned around to Madi and shrugged. "I'm sorry Madi I guess someone already decided my guide for me." I said gloomily.

"That's alright we'll hang out during lunch okay?" She asked.

"Sure! I'll see you later" she walked out of the door and me and Chase were left alone in the room.

Okay so you guys are amazing. I asked for 70 views as our goal and we got over that in at least 3 minutes!!! That's awesome guys!!! I know my chapters have been really boring lately but try to stick with me. This is the first actual book that I've written so it is a little bad. Thank you so much for getting over my goal! The next goal is 80 views and I know you guys can make it.
