Here I am again. The same place I started. Yet another night terror. Although I'm sure if I can even call it a night terror. I don't know what time it is. I don't know where I am. I'm just existing. In this never ending darkness. I can't see anything. I can't feel anything. I can't hear anything. But I know I'm here. I can't be.....dead....?Right?
I'm still alive.
Right?
Suddenly a warmth fills my existence. I'm snapped out of this darkness and into a new light. I know this warmth from somewhere. I just can't...quite....
"Violet!! Violet can you hear me?" a voice called out to me.
Madi.
I'm alive! Thank goodness.
I can feel my body again.
Arms. Arms wrapped around me.
I open my eyes and see a teary-eyed Madi leaning over my bed.
As I struggle to focus on her, she screams with joy.
"Oh, Violet! You're alive. Oh my god, don't ever worry me like that again! I thought you were dead!" said squealed, enveloping me in yet another hug.
I slowly sat up. "Well geez Madi, I'm okay now so you can chill."
I said nonchalantly.
"Chill??? Chill??? You expect me to "chill" after you were out cold for the whole day???" she exclaimed. "Your vitals have been all over the place and the first thing you do when you wake up is tell ME to "CHILL"???? NO WAY CHICA!!"
"I've been out all day??" I asked alarmed. "That means I missed all my classes on the first day of school!! THIS is a nightmare!!"
She rolled her eyes at me. "I think you seriously need to get your priorities straight. I just told you that you've been asleep or in a coma or something ALL DAY, and your first reaction was to get freaked out about missing class? Really?"
"Hey, I've never missed a day of...." I trailed off and noticed a change in energy in the room. It felt like the temperature had dropped at least 20 degrees. I looked around a saw a purplish haze around the room. And when I was breathing, I could see my breath. Then it was gone just like that. "..did you feel that?" "Feel what?" asked Madi. "That sudden drop in temperature? I just got really cold in here. I could even see my breath for a second. Then it just disappeared." I told her.
"No. That's really strange. I haven't felt a thing." She placed her warm hands on my forehead. "Oh my! You're freezing. I should call the nurse, you lay down and get some rest. I'm sure you'll feel better once the nurse gets you checked out and you get some sleep."
She got up and left but I stopped her to ask a question right before she reached the door. "Hey, Madi, who brought me here?" I asked her.
She looked confused. "No one. According to Professor Walker, you dropped your book, ran out the classroom, and apparently collapsed here." she told me, "Are you sure you're alright?"
"Yeah...I'm fine.." I lied.
She left the room.
Then whose arms did I feel wrapped around me? And how did I get here, if I blacked out?
Something isn't adding up.....
