IN WHICH LEILA IS CASUAL AND TOM ISN'T
It was a warm night as they were visiting Leila's parents who still resided in Arizona. Leila had talked Tom into sneaking into the city pool for the second time in their whole lives, and since he loved the smile that would light up his girlfriend's whole face, he had budged and changed into swimming trunks.
He regretted it afterwards, though, when Leila kept teasing him about how he had almost bailed, but he just squeezed her hand and stayed quiet for most of their walk back to her childhood home, but then she dropped a bomb on him.
"Hey, wanna marry me?" Leila asked ever so casually and flipped her wet braid over her shoulder. At first, Tom thought that she was joking, but then he noticed that she wasn't smirking or looking at him with that mischievous glint in her eyes, she just looked happy and warm.
"Are you proposing?" Tom asked slowly, unsure if he had gotten it right. He felt his cheeks heat up when Leila nodded.
"Yeah, I am. I don't have a ring or anything, but yeah," she said and shrugged. "So will you marry me, Thomas?"
He ran, the fucker ran the fifty meters that were left to the house, leaving Leila incredibly confused, but she ran after him either way, mentally cursing him for being faster than her. When she got inside, she ran down the stairs to the basement, which still looked exactly the same as it had when she lived there. Tom was throwing things out of his suitcase, his clothes ending up everywhere as his girlfriend crossed her arms over her chest and looked at him with raised eyebrows. When he finally found what he was looking for he turned around and fucking threw it at Leila, who barely even caught it in time.
"You're always beating me to it, Lei," he said, cheeks bright red as Leila looked at the small box before opening.
"I guess we're getting married then," Leila said and shrugged before grinning. "Now let's watch Supernatural."
