Chapter 8

Lily POV

We follow Lin inside and we eventually get to his apartment. When he opens the door I see Vanessa sitting on the couch watching tv, and her faces lights up when she sees we're home.

"Hey, V!", Lin says and she hugs and kisses him. "I want to introduce you to Ani and Lily."

"Hello! I'm Vanessa. It's so great to finally meet you", she says to us and gives us a sweet smile.

"It's nice to meet you, too", Ani replies politely.

I don't why, but I'm kind of shy around Vanessa. Maybe because all of the foster care moms I've had have all been hateful, but Vanessa seems different.

We stay up for a little bit talking to Lin and Vanessa, and soon I can hardly keep my eyes open. They suggest we go to bed and we tell them goodnight.

I sit on the bed watching Ani brush out her wavy brown hair. She hates her hair, but I love it. Dad had the exact same color hair, and I have Mom's blonde hair.

"I'm sorry if I made you sad today", I sigh feeling guilty about bringing Mom up earlier.

Ani stops brushing her hair and looks at me for a moment then she continues. "It's okay. I just miss her a lot, and when you brought her up, I was just sad."

"I didn't want you to be sad. I just wanted to think of some good memories with her", I crawl across the bed and hug Ani.

She puts her brush down and returns the hug. "Anyways, are you excited for tomorrow? Hard to believe we are going shopping with the Schuyler sisters, huh", Ani smiles down at me, running her fingers through my hair.

"I'm very excited! They seem so nice. Who do you like the best?", I ask her curiously. She lets me go and I get under the covers.

"Oh, they are all super nice", she pauses to think for a moment. "I really liked Pippa."

"Yeah, Pippa is the sweetest person ever", I smile just thinking about her.

"Who's your favorite?", she asks as she plugs in her phone charger into the wall.

"Jazzy", I answer quickly. "But honestly I love them all."

Ani giggles and turns off the lamp on the nightstand beside the bed. "Ya know, Lin says we could have our own rooms. But I was nervous yesterday so I told him I wanted to sleep with you in case you were scared when you woke up."

"I kind of like sharing, but I understand if you want your own room. If I ever had a bad dream, I could come get you", I snuggle closer to her.

"Yeah, that's true", Ani yawns. "I'm going to bed. I don't know why, but I'm so exhausted. Sweet dreams", she kisses my forehead then rolls to her other side.

"Goodnight", I tell her and I quickly fall asleep.

Ani POV

I wake up before Lily. Checking my phone, I realize that we only have an hour to eat breakfast and get dressed. What do you even wear when you go shopping? Lily and I don't have much clothes anyways and we only packed a few shirts and pants in the backpack.

"Lils, wake up. We gotta get ready", I tickle her, because she likes to sleep in and ignore me.

"Ani stop", she turns to her other side. "I want to sleep."

"Then, I guess you won't be going to Starbucks and the mall with Renée, Jazzy, and Pippa", I roll my eyes and look through our bag to find a suitable outfit.

Lily shoots straight up when she realizes what we're doing today. "I'm up, I'm up", she says.

"I'm going to get changed then see if Lin is up", I tell her as I walk into the bathroom that's right across from our room.

After I change, I walk into the kitchen to see Lin attempting to feed Sebastian, but Sebby keeps throwing food at Lin. I hold back a laugh and say,"Good morning!"

Lin turns around and smiles at me. "Good morning, Ani. I made eggs and bacon. The girls will be here soon to pick you and Lily up", he hands me a plate of food, which I thank him for.

Lily comes into the kitchen/dining room a few minutes later with her hair in two braids. Mom taught us how to braid, and I always practice on Lily, although she's getting so good she can do some braids on herself.

"Ooooh! I love bacon", she looks at me happily.

"Me too!", Sebastian waves his hands in the air.

"Here you go", Lin hands her a plate.

"Thank you, Lin", she sits beside me and eats quickly.

I go back into our room to grab my phone, when I hear a knock at the front door. A moment later, I hear Lin open the door and the Schuyler sisters all come in.

"Hey, Ani!", Pippa says to me when I walk back to the living room.

"Hi, Pippa", I look at her kindly.

"Can we go now? I really want some coffee", Jazzy whines half-way joking, but I think she is also serious.

"Yep! Me and homeboy are going to spend the day watching Chuggington, while you girls shop till you drop", Lin hands Renée money, which she quickly turns him down.

"Don't worry about it", Renée tells him.

"Bye girls. Have fun!", Lin gives me and Lily a hug.

"Bye, Lin!", I wave to him on the way out. Lily is walking beside Jazzy and I'm in between Renée and Pippa.

"What's names our we going to do at Starbucks?", Lily asks Jazzy.

"Hmm. Who do you want to be?", she looks at Lily.

"Elphaba", she says and Jazzy squeals excitedly.

"I call being Glinda", Jazzy says to us.

We laugh all the way outside, where Renée calls a taxi.

Hey guys! This chapter was kind of a filler but the next one will be exciting.

Story time:

A few days ago I was looking up Hamilton stuff when I came across some of the songs off-broadway version. So I listened to Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story and cried because in that version Eliza reads some of Hamilton's last letter to her which completely broke my heart.
