Taking Control

[Nina's POV]

I had a terrible dream that night. I was walking through the woods when I heard a screeching noise. I ran over and saw Leona. It was a trap.

"I didn't think you were going to fall for my trap, Chosen One."

Suddenly, the ground shook, opening a large chasm. I fell through. But before I did, I saw Fabian. He was smiling. I woke up with large deep breaths.

[Amber's POV]

I woke up to Nina's deep breathing. She was really freaked out. I went to go check on her, but she seemed to be stuck in a trance. I ran downstairs to Fabian's room to wake him.

"Fabian! Open the door! Come quick!"

The door opened and I saw a brown-haired boy standing in the doorway.

"Amber, its 2 in the morning, what are you doing?"

"Nina's stuck in a trance and she's doing deep breathing."

Fabian looked at me as if I was crazy. We both ran upstairs. We entered the room where Nina was still freaked out. He went over to her to try to wake her.

"Nina? Please wake up. Please. Come on, Nina. Wake up."

She eventually snapped out of it, but was shocked to see us.

"Amber? Fabian? What happened?"

Fabian stroked her cheek.

"You were stuck in a trance, Nina. Amber and I were so worried about you."

She tried standing up, but fell backwards, Fabian caught her.

"Take it easy, Nina."

"I can't. I need to find the flame."

What flame? No one mentioned any flame.

"What flame? Is this Sibuna again?"

Nina was shocked that I knew.

"Nina, its ok. Maybe Amber can help us find it."

"Yeah, you can count on me. So where do we find this flame?"

"We don't know. We'll talk about this tomorrow, right now, Nina needs rest."

I nodded and went back to bed.

"Fabian, I'm going with you tomorrow."

"We'll see. Get some sleep."

He kissed her cheek.

[Nina's POV]

I barely slept. I kept having nightmares. Amber occasionally would check on me, but I kept telling her I was fine. Fabian came in with food and a glass of water.

"I'm not hungry, Fabian."

"Ok, at least drink some water, you need it."

I nodded.

"How do you feel?"

To be honest I felt bad, but I didn't tell him or Amber.

"I feel fine."

"Can you walk?"

I tried standing up, but I couldn't. Fabian sighed.

"You definitely will not be going to school today."

"I'll be fine."

"Nina, you're not thinking straight. You need sleep."

"But Fabian, we need to continue our search."

He held up a hand.

"Nina, listen to me. You're weak. You won't be going anywhere for a while. You need to rest. Leona's just going to have to wait for the flame."

He left the room. I fell backwards into bed. This wasn't fair. I'm not a child. I started thinking about what Leona might do if we don't get that flame. I hope she will give us more time.
