Tonight is the night. Eto na ang pinakahihintay na Halloween party ni Lexi. So what to expect diba? 3 letters. F-U-N!
From her bedroom window, Lexi watched as Tim Yap and his team of loyal manservants ran around the backyard, making sure every last decoration as in place. She checked her phone and realized it’s just half an hour before she opens the gate and launch the party.
She turned at took her way towards her full-length mirror. She looked at her reflection from head to toe.
Somethings completely awf… not awful… just awf…
She tried to slide the devil horns headband onto her head without ruining her perfect part. It would have been easier if she wasn;t talking on her cellphone at the same time…
Lexi: Bey… will you just try to stop crying? Honestly… for the pass 15 minutes… I can nawt understand a single word you’re saying…
Bea: My (gasp) mom (sniff) won’t let me (sharp inhale) go tonight…
Lexi: What?! Why?
Bea lead out a final sob… She blew her nose into the phone…
Bea: Pupunta daw kasi yung relatives naming galing probinsya… dito kasi sila magste-stay kasi sa may dito nakalibing—
Lexi: So? Do you really have to be there to be the welcoming committee? Eh yun naman pala… magste-stay sila jan so buong bakasyon ka nilang makikita…
Bea: Sabi ni Mama… kailangan kompleto daw kami… kasi antagal nanaming di nagkikita… at may next year pa naman daw…
Lexi: No offense, but your mother is waaaay too strict. Can’t you just sneak out?
Bea: No way! The last time na tumakas ako… nag grounded ako for one whole week!
Lexi remembered that time… isang buong week na walang phone… walang internet si Bea… at kinailangan din agad makauwi ni bea after school.
Lexi: It would really suck if Barbie grabs Josh.
Bea started crying even harder. Lexi knew that comment was the last thing Bea wanted to hear as soon as she said it, but she was upset that one of her bestfriend was going to miss her party. I mean… nag-effort si Lexi para mapull out tong party na to dahil sa slip up ni BEA diba? Para hindi siya mapahiya… tapos si Bea yung hindi makakarating dahil pinagbawalan siya ng parents niya? Lexi wished that just this once, Bea would stand up to her parents.
Lexi: Kidding. I’m sure she won’t even have the guts to talk to him, Don’t worry… I’ll call you, ‘kay?
Lexi knew she should have been more comforting… but she has twenty minutes to finish her make up and everything!
After twenty minutes of primping, Lexi was finally ready. By seven o clock, she was in position by the side gate, ready to greet her guests. It was a warm night especially for October, which made the backyard feel as magical as it looked.
Naghiwa-hiwalay ng tasks ang Girlies. Organized lang si Lexi. Si Lexi ang bahala sa welcoming committee. Para sure na walang party crushers sa best night ever. Si Barbie ang sa Food and stuff… Leave that job to the expert sabi nga niya… Si Joyce ang sa music… may DJ naman… so assist lang siya… tipong taga bigay ng requests and such. Yun na kasi ang pinakamadaling job… ayaw nilang bigyan ng pressure si Joyce kasi gusto nilang mas mag enjoy siya sa FIRST party niya :>
