Clothed in the Night

I finally found out where the train was at. It didn't take me long before I was looking at the belly of the beast. Guards were marching around the cages, every once in a while hitting the bars just to make the monsters startle and hiss at the gaurds, trying to kill them only to watch the guard jump right out of their ranges and laugh in their faces. I felt my rage reach its fullest, but I had to calm down in order to figure out how to get in. I had my cloak on, which made me camouflage into the darkness around me. I just sat there and watched their patrol rounds. It didn't take me long to memorize it. It was so simple. One guard literally follows the other. It was probably the easiest round of Simon Says yet! I snuck with the shadows as I got closer to the guards. I accidentally stepped on a branch, but it was just in time for one of them to purposely hit one of the bars. I stood still, hoping that they didn't hear me, but I noticed that they just continued as if I didn't do that. I sighed in relief and continued my sneaking. Soon, I was dangerously close, trying to find the perfect time to take a guard out and pretend to be one of them. I kept staring at each guard's face. All of them had night vision goggles on, so my eyes wouldn't matter. I'll just have to turn off the goggles so I can use my natural night vision to find that hyrbid. For all I care, I could set the entire zoo free, but, knowing them, I would have to get electrocuted several times before I can unlock one cage door and set all the creatures there free. I've even seen a creature nearly get killed by a booby trap, and that went viral. But no, I wasn't right there when it happened, but I did watch it from a distance. I've been traveling a lot lately.

I then saw a guard lift up his hand, "I need to pee. I'll be back." He had a similar accent as mine, just slightly more Scottish. I thought this was a great time to take a guard. No, not great. Perfect! I snuck around one of the cages, nearly being grabbed by a hybrid that looked like a mix of a skeleton and a polar bear. Its claws nearly had me by the cloak, but I moved too quickly for it. It moaned in anger just before a guard hit one of the bars to antagonize it. It roared and raced to the other side of the cage. I bet the guard didn't even see me.

I then found the guard, slightly darker than I was, but I could still use the disguise as my primary way of getting in. Just before he could zip up his pants, I sliced his neck with my sword and he fell on the ground with a thud. I squinted my eyes and grinned with satisfaction. I dragged him to behind the skeleton bear's cage and stripped him to underwear. I was extremely grossed out, so I immediately gave the rest of it to the bear, who happily munched hard into his skull, pulling the rest of the body into the cage.

And I can already hear the bear getting beaten up. But then they'll see the guy's only in underwear, and then they'll be looking for stolen equipment. After I put on the equipment and found the keys, I went out and showed myself. All the soldiers looked at me suspiciously, as if I took a bit too long. One of them spoke up, "Gerald, that was a bit too long. We were going to- are you okay? You look a little lighter than usual."

I started at him through the goggles before clearing my throat, "sorry, that bear scared me a little. Whew! It can be pretty loud if it wants to." My voice cracked on the "whew" part, but the rest of it was pretty fluent. The same guy stared at me and leaned back. Judging by his posture, he had some suspicions. I then shook my head, "anyway, let's get going." I waited for everyone else to go by and started drawing a small map that lead to the shed, where I could show her the portal. And this would be the closest I can let her go on her own.

I looked up just in time to see the last person walk away. I simply hoped that no one found my drawing suspicious. I walked out and started looking in each cage. There was a cow somehow standing on two feet, a wolf that was extremely fluffy, and-. There she was, cuddling with another creature, watching a lavender flower. In awe, I stopped. I felt so... relieved. But at the same time, I felt even more fearful. Now, there are two Ender Dragon hybrids to rescue. And this is going to be harder than I originally thought. I looked at the person right in front of me to see if he was suspicious. I looked at the cage and slowed down. I watched as the last guard went around the corner before going straight to the cage.
