Clarke's POV

Today has been the worst day. I woke up late. I had no hot water, which meant I had to take a cold shower. I was having a horrible hair day and it was laundry day, so I had to settle for a white button down long sleeve shirt from the back of my closet and the loose black slacks I wore yesterday. I pulled my nasty blonde, wavy hair into a ponytail and gave myself a confident smile in the mirror.

I missed my bus and had to wait an extra fifteen minutes for the next one, which meant scratch my usual morning coffee. It was only 8am and so far my day has been worse than all of last week, I thought as I got onto the bus.

By the time I arrived at Jaha Memorial Hospital (my current place of employment) I was already ten minutes late.

"Your late." My coworker Jackson so kindly and obviously pointed out.

"Yes I know." I said annoyed at the morning I had.

He filled me in quickly about the early morning staff meeting I missed, and also had forgotten about until now, then sent me to my first patient.

I read the file as I walked down the hall to room number 100, where my patient was waiting. I opened the door and walked in, setting the file on my desk and pulling on some gloves.

"You look good." My friend Raven said.

"You are in here entirely to often." I said to the mechanical engineer who injures herself on the job at least every other month.

"Maybe I missed you, always working." She said trying to lighten the mood.

"Really Raven. A wooden beam fell on your foot, your lucky it was a only a sprain. A little to the left and it would've landed on a bone-" I wasn't finished lecturing her but she cut me off.

"Look I already got the lecture from Wick okay." Raven said looking down to her left and injured foot.

"How is it going with Wick?" I asked shedding the doctor act and catching up with a friend.

I examined her foot as she talked, "Pretty good." Raven smiled and kept talking, "We went out for dinner last night with his parents."

"Ooh, it's getting serious now." I said joking, but she looked nervously at me.

"I think it is Clarke. He introduced me as his girlfriend to his parents." I smiled as Raven finished her sentence looking increasingly nervous. "I've never really had anything serious before."

"I know, but hey, the way he looks at you is the way all women want a man to look at them, like their his world. Raven, you got lucky with him. Don't screw it up because you scared about getting hurt."

"I'm not scared of anything." She said and I raised an eyebrow at her. "You should've seen how worried Wick was when the beam fell. He actually picked me up and carried me to his car." Raven smiled down at the floor.

"You are so happy." I said smiling myself. "I'm glad." Raven deserved happiness.

"Thanks Clarke. You know he has this friend-"

It was my turn to cut her off. "I don't want to be fixed up Raven." I sighed and finished up fixing her foot.

"I know but hear me out Clarke." Raven started to say, but she would never get to finish her sentence because that moment the fire alarms rang loud through out the hospital.
