Josh pulls away from the hospital, watching it fade into the distance like a passing plane. It feels a little bit like pieces of him are being pulled away with every yellow dash his car passes over, but he keeps driving. He can't play that game anymore. He had been fooling himself for years now into thinking that maybe, just maybe Tyler loved him like he used to, and maybe it would be enough to bring them back together again, but he was so wrong. Every time he faithfully showed up, every time he laid his soul out in front of Tyler without restraint, every damn time he put everything else aside for Tyler has only led to a dead end street where they can't even be normal friends anymore and he's lost count of the nights his pillow ended up soaked in tears. Maybe it's immature, or maybe it's the smartest thing he's done in a long time, but this time he's going to do what's best for him. He's not going to give up on Tyler, he wouldn't dream of that, but he's done being hopeful that Tyler will love him the way he would give anything for. He breathes out a deep sigh, and smooths his hair in his car mirror. He has a date that he planned before Tyler's accident, and it's not like Tyler's lacking assistance or attention in the least, so it's perfectly reasonable that he can allow himself this. The traffic is miraculously light given the time of day, and he is only a minute or two away from the address he put in his GPS, so it looks like he'll be on time. He weaves through small neighbourhoods and past parks, and finally reaches the end of one neighbourhood and all there is is an abandoned lot to his right. "Arrived at destination" the GPS speaks. What? He scans the area with cracked pavement and a crooked parking barrier border, and there in the far right corner sits a tall, dark man, with deep brown eyes, spiked blue hair, and a vampire grin. Tyson. Josh smiles to himself, forgetting his confusion about the location entirely, and feels a mix of excitement and nervousness bubble up inside. He gets out of his car, and tries to play it cool, putting his hands in his pockets and sauntering over towards the right corner of the vacant lot. Tyson's vampire grin spreads further and he stands up to meet Josh as he approaches.
