After the morning assembly, I went to my Science class. And just like every year, we had Mr. Brady as our Science teacher.

Also like every year, Mr. Brady assigns us all partners and this year, my partner was coincidentally that mysterious boy I bumped into in the hallway earlier this morning.

His name was Isaac Luethers. A unique name, if you ask me. So we chose seats in the back of the classroom. And once everyone was settled, Mr. Brady said, "Today we won't be learning much, since I know how hard it is to focus when you've just come back from your summer holidays. I will just be needing you to read the first chapter in your Science textbook, which is about the Periodic table. After you've read it, I want you to discuss with your partner about the chapter."

And so I read chapter one in my Science textbook. I looked to my left to see Isaac Luethers staring back at me.

"Are you done reading?" I asked. Isaac nodded in response.

"So... um, what did you think of the Periodic table?" I said.

Isaac laughed. He actually laughed. He finally put away that scowl and laughed. I raised an eyebrow.

"Is that your way of making small talk?" Isaac said.

"Well, Mr. Brady told us to discuss about the topic..." I replied.

"Do you always listen to what the teacher tells you to do?"

"No..." Isaac raised his eyebrows, not believing me. "Okay, yes. But—"

"Pfft. I knew it. You're a teacher's pet!"

"I am not! Is it really my fault that I care about my grades?!"

"Uh... yeah? From what I hear around here, you're the richest person in the school. Do you don't have to work your ass off to get a scholarship into a good college or whatsoever. 'Cause anyone who doesn't live under a rock knows very well that your parents would be able to get you into any college you want."

"Kinda true... but doesn't mean I want to take advantage of my parents being loaded..."

"Wow... you're like... the poster girl for good."

"How do you know all this, anyway? Aren't you new here?"

"I have my ways..." Isaac told me mysteriously, smirking.

Just then, the bell rang. "What class do you have next?" I asked Isaac.

"English. You?"

"Wow. Me too!"

That is how Isaac Luethers and I walked to English together, laughing and talking. Rumours spread around fast in Glassgate High, and the rumour right now was that Isaac and I are best buddies.

Very short chapter, indeed. But I don't even know if anyone's still reading this :D Anyway, hope you enjoyed it... what do you think of Isaac? Thanks for reading!
