I couldn't believe it.
I just couldn't.
I knew Carmen was some type of "mean girl", but I never knew she could be so... evil like that.
When Carmen and I were little, I trusted. And I was pretty sure she trusted me, too. We were inseparable. We had some other friends, too, of course. But Carmen was like a sister to me. She was that special.
Now, I just don't know what to think of her. If Carmen truly did care about me, she'd care about my friends too. She'd care about Samantha. She'd not do what Samantha told me she did.
I personally found it a bit hard to believe. I mean, could Samantha lie to me like that? I knew she hated Carmen, but did she hate her enough to break mine and her friendship? But if Samantha truly cared about me, she wouldn't ruin my friendship with Carmen.
My thoughts were all jumbled up. I hated it when I don't know the truth, which is why I try to be as honest as possible, at all times. Since I hate being lied to, I don't want other people to feel that way.
I decided to call Carmen. I've known her since long as I can remember and she was never a very good liar. She was like an open book; you could read her really well.
Carmen picked up after a while. She sounded... sad. Well, she sounded like... normal, but Carmen wasn't normal. She was always cheerful. So there must be something wrong.
"Hi, Crystal. Why you calling?" She asked.
"Well... uh, I really don't know how to put this without sounding rude..." I then realized that calling her might've been a bad idea. Too late now...
"Is something wrong?" Carmen asked, sounding a bit irritated and her voice was rushed, as if she needed to do something else or go somewhere.
"Yeah, um... Samantha told me that—that you convinced Anthony to cause the incident a few months ago... you remember right?"
Carmen laughed. "Oh honey! Are you high? Drunk? On drugs?" She kept giggling. I think she's the one on drugs.
"I'm being serious, Carmen."
She finally stopped giggling like a psycho and said, "I would never do such a thing! Samantha is my friend, too."
I sighed. "Okay. Well, I'll see you tomorrow at school. Bye."
I didn't even wait for her reply. I just hung up and lay down, not wanting to think about anything and sleep. I had a huge migraine from thinking of all this stupid drama.
===
The next day at school, I was walking to my locker when I saw it: Samantha and Carmen having a full blown girl fight. Y'know, the one which involves hair-pulling and stuff?
I couldn't believe how immature they are. There was only a small crowd around them, since it was still quite early. No one was bothering to stop the fight. I wonder how none of the teachers are here yet.
I walked up to Samantha and Carmen and tried to pry Carmen (who was punching Samantha's face) away from Samantha.
Seeing as I was there, they stopped. "Crystal! Finally! Your psychotic friend was using me as a fucking punching bag!" Samantha retorted sarcastically. Her hair was sticking out all over the top of her head and her pink, knee-length dress was wrinkled.
"Look, Samantha, what's going on?" I asked.
"She was ripping my hair of my head!" Carmen shouted towards me. Then turning to Samantha, she said, "I just straightened it this morning, bitch!"
"That ain't my fa—"
"Okay, just stop! Why were you guys fighting?" I said.
"See, I was walking to my locker when your crazy friend decided to jump on me. Technically, what I did was self-defense!" Carmen said.
"Oh, you wanna know why I jumped on her?! It's because I found out that Anthony was cheating on me, while we were still dating, with her. Apparently they weren't just friends! I'm gonna kill y—"
"Sam, no offense, but whatever happened with Anthony was in the past. Now, you guys aren't together anymore so there was no reason for you to beat Carmen up." Carmen smirked at Samantha, happy that I defended her. Truth was, I didn't wanna be on anyone's side. They're both wrong.
But obviously, Samantha thought differently, because she said, "Fuck you, Crystal! Should've known you were never actually my friend! After all, anyone who's friends with Carmen the bitch is also a bitch." I wanted to confront her, tell her it's not what she thinks. But she's already stormed off.
I've just lost a friend. And it didn't feel good.
