The Tattoo

| Chapter 3 |

"Hello, my name is Ms. Callaghan," our new English teacher began. "I will be expecting all of you to behave in my class. Just like every beginning of every class I t—You! Blond boy at the back!" Ms. Callaghan pointed at Anthony—yes, Anthony, Samantha's ex boyfriend.

"Um... yeah, Ms. Callaghan?" Anthony said calmly.

"Put. The. Phone. Down." Ms. Callaghan narrowed her eyes. And I got to admit, she looked pretty scary.

But Anthony just scoffed. Ms. Callaghan, though, marched up to him and snatched his iPhone out of his hand. "This will be confiscated till next Monday, okay?" Ms. Callaghan said, then went back to her desk. Anthony and everyone else just started at her in disbelief.

"So, that taught us all to behave, didn't it?" Ms. Callaghan continued. "Anyway, as I was saying... at the beginning of they year, I like to give my class a little bonding experience with each other. And what better way to do that than a group project, am I right? The project will be to make a novel. Any kind of novel. I am going to assign you into groups of four. First," she pulled up the attendance sheet. "Marie Nichols, Jack Barry, Larry Howard and Lucy Mannings. Next, Crystal Fray, Samantha Perkins, Anthony Jones and Isaac Luethers."

Huh, what a coincidence. I was with Isaac once again. Then I realized that Anthony and Samantha... in the same group. Oh damn. This isn't gonna work very well...

I looked over at Samantha, who was sitting right behind me. She had a very worried look on her face. Then she raised her hand. "Ms. Callaghan?" Samantha said.

"Yes?"

"Can I switch groups or something?"

"No. Of course not. It's final. I really do not appreciate this kind of behaviour. You must always listen to what the teacher tells you okay?"

"But—"

"BE QUIET." The whole class then fell silent. Everybody knew then not to ever mess with Ms. Callaghan.

Anthony, Samantha, Isaac and I decided to meet at Anthony's house after school to work on the project.

After English, I had a free period, so I decided to go to the library.

I sat down at one of the chairs near a table and a few seconds later, this boy whom I've seen a few times around before, sat across me.

Just as I was about to read a book, my phone vibrated, signaling I had a text.

Luna

Ugh... Math is sooo boring...

Crystal

It's not that bad if you'd pay attention...

"Your are my sun. My moon. And all of my stars." Immediately, I looked up from my phone. That was what my tattoo said.

Then the same voice said, "Oh, sorry if I startled you... I just—I was reading aloud from my book, and thought it might be good to uh, tell you this wonderful saying... since coincidentally, you're reading the same book."

The person who was that was the boy who was sitting across me. "Yeah, I am reading the same book. I haven't gotten to the part where there's that saying, though." I said.

The boy's eyes widened. "Uh—that—uh... that... what you just said... that's what my tattoo says!"

My mouth opened in shock. Could it be that we're soul mates? "'You are my sun. My moon. And all of my stars'. That's my tattoo..."

"Goodness!" The boy exclaimed. "We're soul mates!"

A smile couldn't help itself from creeping onto my face. "Yeah, I guess so..."

"No... but... we're total opposites. You're so popular and I'm so... not."

"Well, we may have different social statuses, but we sure do have the same taste in books."

The boy smiled. "I'm Maddox. Maddox Bell."

"That's a cool name. I'm Crystal. Crystal Fray. Nice to meet ya, soul mate."
