I looked around my room. It was exactly the same, thank goodness. I heard my bedroom door opening.
"Princess, are you alright?" It was Orchid. "Yes, I'm fine." "Are you certain princess? You look a tad unwell." Orchid walked over to me and put her hand on my forehead. "A fever! Princess you must rest. I shall go and make you some lilac tea." Orchid walked out of my room and gently closed the door. After a while, she came back. "Here you go princess." She laid a cup down by my bedside table. "I just had the strangest dream, Orchid." "Oh, really? Do you think it was a vision, princess?" She looked at me with a concerned look on my face. "I'm not quite sure myself." I told her about all of the events that had happened within my dream. "Hmm... that is strange indeed. Fever dreams are always strange after all. You really should get some rest." "And you really don't need to worry about me so much. I haven't even left my bed yet. I've been getting rest." Orchid began to shake her head at me. "Princess, lying in bed and resting are very different from each other." "Hey, Orchid." "Yes princess?" "You know what would help me rest?" She looked at me with an eager look on her face. "How can I help?" I leaned in to whisper in her ear. "Boing." I quickly extended my hand to her and lightly pulled on her curly hair. "GAH!!!!" Orchid jumped back a little and put her hands on her head. "Princess! I really wish you stopped doing that!" I laughed a tad. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself." Orchid sighed at me and went back to my bedroom door. "Goodnight princess." "Goodnight." She left my room and closed the door. Soon after, I drifted to sleep.
When next I woke my fever had diminished. I got dressed and headed to my brother Kano's room. I knocked on his door. "Kano. Are you in there? You need to come out today. We're meeting Queen Eliza today." I heard a loud sigh from the other room. "Yeah, I know. I'll get up in a bit." I went down to the castle gates and entered my stagecoach. I didn't have much to do, so I just waited for the discussion to happen. After a while, Kano entered the stagecoach as well. "Good morning. It's been a couple weeks since I've seen you." "Yeah well, misery will do that to you." I couldn't feel much but pity for my brother. He loved our parents so much. Personally, I wasn't that fond of them. They passed a couple laws that weren't very kind toward Oddities. But there I was. About to speak with their queen about a peace treaty.
After we arrived at the Oddity palace we were greeted by Eliza's secretary. "U-Um...Princess... Mahale... right?" She was rather timid and fearful. "That's correct. No need to be scared." "Eliza is waiting... for you... this way please." Her hands were trembling and her eyes were darting all over the place. She was clearly a very anxious person. "So, Vivian. I hear you're quite the mage. Would you mind maybe helping my kingdom out when this treaty is signed?" She looked at me with a hopeful expression. "R-R-Really!? I'd be honored your m-m-majesty!" Seeing her so excited made me laugh a little bit. "Would you mind showing us where the court room is?" "Oh y-y-yes of course." Vivian led us into the palace and then into a large room. "Eliza will be w-with you sh-shortly." She left the room and closed the door behind her. Kano and I sat down at the chairs marked 'Foreign Royalty' and waited for Eliza to arrive.
"So sorry to keep you waiting." A girl with short black hair and piercing red eyes entered the room. She sat down on the chair marked 'Queen Eliza' across from us. "Is it just you? No other councilmen or nobility?" Even though this kingdom was rather new, it doesn't make much sense for her to be alone ruling an entire kingdom. "Yep, just me." She looked at me rather casually. "So, are we gonna get this treaty signed?" She signed her name on a piece of paper and then handed it to Vivian, and then Vivian handed it to us. It was a pretty long document, mostly about trade routes and taxes and things like that. After I read it thoroughly I signed it and handed it to Kano. He immediately signed his name under mine without bothering to read the actual document. Eliza stood up from her chair. "So! That's it! Thanks for signing the treaty." I begun to question her. "Really? That's all there is? Somehow it feels a little bit anti-climactic." "Yeah, I guess it is. Perhaps we can celebrate? We can ride in a stagecoach and get to know each other a little more." Kano sighed. "You guys can do that. I want to go home." "No. You have to come with us." Kano never got outside of his room, ever. This was a chance to actually get him to live a little bit. Kano sighed again, "Fine..." I was honestly expecting more of a fight from him, but no matter.
Vivian led us to a stagecoach and we all went inside. We begun to talk about ourselves and our kingdoms. While we were riding I heard Vivian scream. "OUT-OUTSIDE!!!!!" I quickly shifted toward the window and looked out. I saw a bright flash of light heading toward us. It looked like a magic spell. Someone was trying to kill us.
Time seemed to stop there. Everything was still, the spell inching very slowly towards us. My eyes turned from purple to white. I knew I could leave the stagecoach and just run, but I didn't. I remained still. I wondered what would happen if I just let it hit me.
The spell kept getting closer and closer.
Then it hit us.
Then we died.
Then I woke up.
