"Well, Dallon, you have made quite the recovery." Dr Johnsten smiled warmly at him.
"Uh...maybe?" Dallon chuckled awkwardly.
"I think you might be able to go home."
"Oh...really?"
He nodded, smiling widely.
"That's awesome!"
"I'm thinking as early as tomorrow."
"Oh, wow."
He nodded. "I understand you and your wife have been going through some issues, so we can give you a few phone calls to sort out somewhere to say if you wish."
"Okay, awesome."
The doctor handed Dallon a phone.
"I don't know who to call..."
"Maybe try Breezy. I know it's hard, but try."
Dallon took a sharp breath in.
"Just try, Dallon."
"Fine..."
Dallon reluctantly dialed Breezy's number and held the phone to his ear.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Breezy answered.
"I-I-" Dallon stammered. "I'm coming home..."
"Good for you."
"A-Are you still in the h-house?"
"Of course I am."
Dallon took a nervous breath. "We're gonna start divorce proceedings when I get home."
"Good."
"B-Bye..."
She hung up the call.
Dallon took a nervous breath.
Dr Johnsten forced a weak smile.
"Will that be okay?" He asked.
"I guess..."
"Good. Anyway, I think you might need to go and break the news to your boyfriend."
Dallon frowned. "I don't know how he'll take it..."
"Probably not well." He sighed. "But his session is next, so now is the best time."
"Okay..."
Dallon went to find Brendon. Brendon was sitting on his bed, writing away in the journal his Mom had brought him.
"Hey Dally." He smiled.
"Hey Brenny." He sat down next to him. "I, um, have some news."
"What's up?"
"I'm um... getting released tomorrow."
"Oh...really?" He whispered. Brendon tried to maintain a small smile.
Dallon nodded. "Yeah... I'm gonna come and visit you on Sunday's and stuff. I promise."
Brendon nodded, his smile faltering.
"And you'll be out of here soon, I promise."
Brendon shook his head, tears beginning to form.
"Hey, it's okay. I'll be nearby, I promise."
"Y-You only j-just g-got here!" Brendon cried, latching onto Dallon. "Y-You can't l-leave!"
"I'll visit you all the time." Dallon assured.
"Y-You're j-just gonna m-move away like M-Mom!"
"Never."
"Y-You will!"
"Not at all Brendon."
Brendon kept crying.
Dallon just held him close.
"I-I don't want you t-to leave." Brendon whimpered.
"I know." He whispered. "I don't want to leave either."
"B-but you are!"
"I can't stay if I'm better Bren." He whispered.
"I wanna be better!" Brendon cried.
"I know, I know. You will be soon, I promise."
"W-What if I d-don't?"
"You will be." Dallon assured.
Brendon just whimpered.
"Your session with Dr Johnsten is now, too." Dallon whispered.
"I-I don't wanna g-go..."
"I know Brenny. Just... try?"
He shook his head.
"I'll come with you. Let's go."
"O-okay..."
Dallon slowly led him through to Dr Johnsten's office.
Brendon was staring at the ground the entire time.
Dallon gently peeled Brendon's arms away and tried to sneak out of the office.
"D-Don't leave!"
"Dallon has to go. This is your session Brendon." Dr Johnsten said slowly.
Brendon shook his head.
Dallon had to sneak out.
Brendon curled up and wouldn't talk.
"Brendon, I want to release you too, but I can't if you're acting like this." Dr Johnsten sighed.
"I-I'm n-never g-getting out here..." He murmured.
"You will Brendon, but you need to work with me."
"W-What do you w-want me to say?"
"How has your day been?"
"F-Fine u-until D-Dally said h-he was leaving..."
"How does that make you feel?"
"B-Bad..."
"Why?"
"B-Because I-I don't want him to l-leave."
"He said he would visit."
"B-But w-what if R-Ryan h-hurts me again?"
"Brendon, Ryan isn't real, remember?" The doctor said gently. "When he tries to hurt you, you just need to remember that he's not real. He can't hurt you if he's not real."
"It's hard..."
"I know that. But that's how you win, Brendon."
Brendon just frowned.
They spent the rest of the session talking about Ryan, before it was time for dinner. Brendon wouldn't leave Dallon alone.
"I'm gonna miss you." Brendon mumbled.
"I'm gonna miss you too Bren." Dallon kissed his cheek.
"I'm gonna be lonely without you."
"You have Kenny?"
"I guess..."
"I'm going to miss you so much."
"Me too."
They hugged.
"I don't want you to go." Brendon whispered.
"I know Brendon. I don't want to leave you here alone, but I have to."
Brendon pouted.
Brendon slept in Dallon's bed that night, snuggling up as close to him as possible.
"I love you." Brendon whispered.
"I love you too Bren."
Brendon smiled before drifting off.
