Brendon panicked as he woke up. He couldn't remember where he was and screamed.
Tyler almost lept out of bed in alarm.
He began shaking and crying.
Tyler left the room to find help.
He came back with Dr Kosakowski. Brendon was still in a bad state.
"W-WHERE AM I?!?"
"You had a transfer Brendon, remember?" She spoke gently. "Yesterday. You're in the Fintalin Centre for Mental Health."
His tears deepened.
She sighed softly, and offered her hand to help him up off the floor.
He shook his head and curled up.
Instead, she sat down next to him. Tyler just scampered out of the room.
"I-I wanna go home."
"I know Brendon. But it's visitor's day today, and I hear you have a very special person coming."
"W-Who?"
"Jackie, I think her name was?"
"Really?"
She nodded.
Brendon nearly leapt up.
She chuckled. "But you can only see her if you eat all your breakfast, so let's go to the dining room."
"Okay." He mumbled.
Breakfast was a museli with yogurt. Brendon just stared at it.
It wasn't like his normal breakfasts.
No, no. This was healthy. And it was weird. And Brendon didn't know how to eat it either.
He just stared at it longer, as everyone else was eating.
He remembered what Dr Kosakowski said, and reluctantly picked his spoon up, poking it to see what it would do.
The yoghurt began to mix with the muesli as he stirred it slightly.
He begrudgingly took a bite.
It wasn't too bad, but it did have a weird mouth feel.
He ate the rest of the bowl, and presented it to Dr Kosakowski.
"Okay, good." She smiled. "All ready for visitor's day?"
He nodded dramatically.
She smiled. "Okay, follow me. Jackie should be here shortly."
He followed her footsteps perfectly.
The visiting room was huge and there were a heap of tables. There was a little placecard with Brendon's name on one of the tables.
He sat down, nervously fidgiting with his t-shirt.
When he saw Jackie come in, he leapt up and raced to her. "Mom!"
Jackie smiled, taking a deep breath before trying to speak. "Hey... honey."
"I missed you so much!"
'I... missed you... too." She looked over the tables for somewhere to sit.
Brendon walked back to the seats.
She sat down and breathed a sigh of relief.
It was hard getting around, and the doctor's had been giving her nothing but bad news lately.
"H-How are you Mom?" Brendon asked nervously, noticing how heavy her breathing was.
"Fine...."
"P-Please don't l-lie to me." Brendon whispered.
