Xita woke up to her phone ringing, only to see the number she knew was Mason's though she hadn't saved it yet, and didn't plan on it. Every morning he would wake her up with a call or a text. She hated it at first, but though she didn't want to admit it, she was getting used to it.
He really wasn't as bad as before, but she still had an uneasy feeling about him. They sometimes talked on the phone, sometimes just texted, but he always seemed to say something to get on her nerves, but it seemed like he would do it on purpose, and now it was almost a ritual.
"Hello?" She groggily answered.
"Good morning sunshine!" He sounded a little too chipper. Xita wasn't exactly not a morning person, she just preferred to sleep, and he was waking her up way too early.
"Morning," she mumbled back. Since she was up, she thought she might as well get dressed for school. She loved she pretty much had a whole new wardrobe and all her clothes actually fit now.
"What you doing?" He asked, just as she was sitting up in bed.
"Just waking up, thanks again for that," she rolled her eyes and he laughed. "I'm just going to get up and get dressed, you know since I'm up." That only made him laugh harder.
"I'm sorry, I woke you up again?" He asked, the laughter still evident in his voice.
"Naw, you just woke me up again," she went into the bathroom and washed her face with the face wash she bought from bed bath and beyond. She bought new body wash for her and her family as soon as she could, she bought new towels and everything. Her mother questioned her about it, but she just said it was because she had extra money from the raise, but her mom still never said anything about the money in the mailbox.
"You not gone take a shower?" He asked.
"Shut up," she laughed. "I took one last night," she informed him, before getting her toothbrush and began brushing her teeth while looking in the mirror.
"Oh okay, you sleep good last night?" She mumbled an mhmm. "You must be brushing them chompers huh?" She laughed and mumbled another mhmm. "Good, don't nobody want to smell yo funky ass breath," he laughed. "Yuck mouth!"
"Shut up," she mumbled with her toothbrush in her mouth. She could have sworn he didn't look like the type to try to crack jokes. She finished brushing her teeth, washing her face before she brushed her hair back into a ponytail, before walking back into her room.
"Ain't you supposed to be in class or something?" She asked, shuffling through her clothes until she came across a cute black top with a silver design and some all white skinny jeans. She matched it with her black wedge lace up sneakers. It was plain, but it was still cute.
"I ain't gotta be in class till eight," he told her.
"Then why you calling me at five?"
"You act like I don't call you this early every morning?" He laughed. "I'm just about to go for my daily run at six, you know," he told her and she could hear the water cut on in the shower.
"Oh yeah, I be forgetting you play football," she said, going back into the bathroom and changing her clothes. She couldn't understand why Yasmine and Serenity told her not to get these all white jeans, because they was cute as hell.
"Yeah, I work out," he boasted. "I'm gone hit you back later, like when you get out of school, you work today?"
"No I'm off."
"Alright then, I'll call you," he said.
"Alright, bye," she said, ending the phone call and sliding the phone in her pocket. Just as she did that, both of her brother's phones went off and they woke up.
