(Trixie's PoV)
As the Avengers talked I just sat there in silence as I thought about everything that's happened. I hated the fact that Tony and Bruce went into that building and saw all the blood and ash. I was really surprised that they didn't try to force me to tell them anything. I still couldn't stop thinking about Adam, but I also couldn't stop thinking about the things Loki had said to me. Was he lying, or was he serious? I want to believe he was serious, but the logical side of me said he was just lying. Lying, like anyone else who had ever talked to, or about me. After a few minutes, Tony showed me a room, one floor below the one we where on, where he would let me stay. I went in, and he left after that. I looked out the window and looked at the destruction. The thoughts of what Loki had said came rushing back, and I slowly started to believe he wasn't lying. I nearly jumped when I heard a knock on my door.
"It's open," I said. As the door opened, I saw Steve standing there.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" I asked in return.
"You know why, Stark and Banner told us about what happened," Steve said.
"Of course they did," I sighed.
"do you want to talk about it?" he asked me.
"Maybe, but not tonight. It's been a long day," I said holding back the sadness in my voice. Steve nodded and left the room. "More like it's been a long two days," I mumbled to myself. A few hours past and after hearing a few elevator dings, I assumed most of the Avengers had left. I sat on a chair by the window, and just continued to stare out at the city. I had tried to fall asleep, but I couldn't. As I looked at different places, I could imagine a different memory I had of my brother and I at nearly every building I saw. I saw the alley way where some kids actually paid us to see my powers of ice and snow, I saw the diner where we would get food, and I saw gate down to the subway were sometimes I would get money for playing the guitar. It wasn't to hard finding a guitar because there was this old guy who always fell asleep, so I would just borrow his guitar. He slept through everything, and to this day I don't think he ever realized I used his guitar. Adam, had loved to listen to me play guitar. I quickly erased the thought of Adam. I walked back over to the bed, and I finally managed to fall asleep. The next morning came, and I woke up around eight a.m.
"Trixie, your wanted on the top floor," a voice said.
'Must be JARVIS' I thought to myself. Tony had explained a little to me about JARVIS. After a few minutes I left my room, and walked toward the elevator. As the elevator doors opened on the top floor, everyone was there, and everyone was actually eager to hear what happened. I walked over and sat on a couch, with Steve on my right and Tony to the left. Everyone looked at me, and waited for me to begin. Here we go.
"It happened when I was around eight years old. By now, my brother and I were used to living on the streets, and we made due with what we had. There was an old building that was abandoned and we usually slept there, or we stayed there if the weather was bad. One night we had just got in, and we were sitting on top of some boxes. I was talking to my brother, and we heard shouting from outside. Then I froze the door over, hoping we would have time to get away but it barely did a thing. I grabbed my brothers arm, I started pulling him through the building, and then I heard the door being kicked down. One man set fire to the floor, hopping to slow us down but we fought through it. Another one of the men started shooting at us, and one bullet scrapped along the surface of my hand. I stopped running, and tried to make a wall of ice to hold them off. After that I leaned against the wall, trying to catch my breath. My brother told me it was useless, and we would have a better chance if we just ran, and so I quickly ran with him. While we were running I could hear the wall of ice I had made shatter. I didn't have much control over the ice then, so all ice I made was usually thin. As we ran up the stairs, another gun shot was heard. It hit part of the stairs, causing me to trip. I yelled at my brother to keep going, he hesitated before continuing to run. After I regained my balance, I tried to run back up the steps but one of those men got me before I could. I struggled to break free, but it was pointless. He pinned me up against the wall, and he took out a knife. He stabbed me in the leg, and slowly pulled it down. I shot a blast of ice by his feet and he dropped me when he saw the ice. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, and then I got out to a big open room, where my brother was waiting for me. As I staggered over to him, I heard footsteps behind me. That's when it happened. I heard six gun shots, and I heard.....I heard a thud. I stopped dead in my tracks, as I watched my brother fall. Without even realizing it, I made a wall of ice, that pushed the men out of the room, and after that they ran out after realizing that they couldn't break through the ice. I ran over to him, and I didn't know what to do. I talked to him, and he told me I had to go before they came back. I yelled at him, and told him I wasn't going to leave him. He told me to get out but that only made me more upset then before. I had been holding his hand, I started to yell at him, telling him that I wasn't leaving, and then I....I..," I stopped myself. I knew what would happen if I said it, my skin would change along with my eyes. I took a deep breath, and I went to say more. "I burnt his hand by accident. I got so upset, that I didn't realize I was doing it until it was to late for me to stop. He screamed in pain, and I quickly backed away. He told me he wasn't upset that I had done it, because he knew I hadn't meant to. I sat there in fear as I watched him slip away. After that I gave up. I got low, and I gave up on thinking there was a chance my life would get better. After a few more years of running, I finally got caught, and I was to broken to try to run anymore," I told them. I was very surprised my skin or eyes hadn't changed, but I was happy it didn't. Everyone around me was silent, no one said a word, and I was glad no one did. I sat there and starred at the floor until we heard the elevator.
"Who is that?" Tony asked in a slightly annoyed tone. I turned to look at the elevator along with everyone else, and when the doors opened a sense of fear quickly ran through me. There in the elevator was Furry. All the Avengers could tell I was nervous, and Furry saw it too.
"Don't worry, I'm not taking you back to that cell," Furry said as he stepped out of the elevator. My stress slowly faded, and I took a sigh of relief.
"So, why are you here then?" Steve asked. All eyes where locked on Furry, as we all yearned for his answer.
"To apologize," he said. My mouth nearly dropped, but it didn't.
"Wait, so you are apologizing to me? Ok, now I'm really confused," I said, and Tony held in a laugh. But I wasn't kidding, I was seriously confused that he actually didn't want to lock me up. I really wanted him to just leave because I hated him, but another part of me was curious as to why he wasn't locking me up again.
"Look, honestly you never did hurt anyone and after seeing what you did yesterday, I've changed my mind. You saved a lot of lives yesterday, whether you truly realized it or not, and because of that I'm giving you another chance," Furry said. I cringed, but none of them noticed. Furry said I didn't hurt anyone, but that wasn't true. I hurt Adam, and he died. The images of Adam's body on the floor flashed in my head and I quickly tried to erase it. I thought of what Loki said, and that only made things worse. My thoughts were interrupted by Bruce's voice.
"Are you ok?" he asked me. I hadn't noticed that Furry had left the room until just now.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said hoping that my eyes hadn't changed.
"Did your brother have the power of ice, like you?" I heard Natasha asked.
"No," I slowly said. The images came into my mind again but I drove them out.
"Then why were they after him?" Clint asked. I fell silent as the memories repeatedly flashed in my mind. The shots, the thud, and the burn.
