The Grass Isn't Greener On The Other Side

Chapter Five

Of course I'm the first person up so I get into the shower and once finished wrap myself in a robe from my suitcase. We travelled with groceries as we've stayed in this hotel before.
I started making breakfast for the girls they know I don't like bacon but made them some bacon, eggs, sausage, grits and some toast with some orange juice. Once breakfast was finished I got dressed in a simple yellow button up shirt and a black pencil skirt with some blinged out open toed clear heels. Woke up Tanielle first because her and Edrea take the longest to get ready.

As I'm done with the food Dessa wakes up and was like "yes I love when you cook." Edrea and Tanielle finish getting ready and grab them something to eat. Dessa gets dressed faster than we do so she ate and was in and out of the shower in no time and dressed ready for the first day of the conference.

We grab all of our things and get into the car Tanielle starts messing with my phone to find a song she wants to play and she picks Take a bow by Rihanna. All of us start singing as we head to the morning session of the conference.

The mornings normally don't have many people there but we went anyways. We took our seats and waited for the speaker she went up and started talking about always keeping a positive mindset. What you believe you are you become staying positive no matter what the situation is she gave a quote that till this day always keeps me positive. "Don't Worry Be Happy And Smile."

The speaker opened up the floor for questions and Edrea asks, "What is the best way to not take home the attitude of a bad day at work, home?" Speaker responds, "In my experience and or what I do before I go home I sit in my car and have a few moments to myself breathing slowly. Being thankful for just the little things for instance being able to walk, talk, hear, see, and just thankful that I'm alive another day."

Speaker asks,"Is there any other questions?" No response from those of us that were present. She says, "Thank you, you all have a wonderful day."

All of us get up and head towards the door get into the car and of course here goes Dessa, "I'm hungry." Tanielle says, "Dessa we know we're headed to IHOP and sit down.

*Fast Forwarding through the day to the night conference*

We are at the night conference and I'm looking around for Titus. No sign of him we see a few people that we've known for awhile walk in. Their names are Anna and her brother Eli. We find places for us to sit. Here is how we were seated Dessa was to the left of me and Edrea was to the right of me. Next to Dessa was Anna while Eli set the row behind us. Then one of Anna's friends set next to her and Tanielle set to Anna's friend at the end of the row.

In walks these two young ladies and I just got this weird feeling about them. They sit directly in front of us why out of all the seats in the building. I turn to Dessa and what came out of my mouth to her was "She is competition." When talking to Titus a strange feeling would always appear but never really could understand why exactly.

Dessa whispers back, "No, you have nothing to worry about." So I lean forward to get Tanielle's attention and I take my head and I do this forward neck nod for her to look at the girls in front of us. She looks and mouths,"What about them?" Making my eyes really big mouthing back ,"This might be her." All of them are completely confused as to what I'm talking about but I couldn't shake that feeling.

Now, this is all instincts never knew this girl and had no idea what was about to take place but a women's intuition never lies. I know Anna knows Titus, leaning forward once again. I reach over Dessa to tap Anna and point at the girls in front of us asking,"Who is that?" her response was about to shatter my entire world. Anna says,"That's Titus's girlfriend Cassie."

In that moment life ceased to exist all the air left my body my soul was ripped from my chest. It took every ounce of strength not to break down in that moment. Those words played over and over in my head he has a girlfriend that he failed to mention to me at any point in time when we talked and texted.

Anger immediately took over and all I wanted to do was bolt out the door and never look back and just go back home. Cassie turned around not looking at me but to look for Titus who did not sit by her but he sat all the way in the back of the building. Assuming at this point in time he was guilt ridden. Cassie sitting in front of me and so far he doesn't know that I know that's his girlfriend.

The conference finally ends don't ask what was said I wouldn't be able to tell you. All I know was it was time to make a run for the restroom and practice that breathing technique so no crying or ripping eyeballs from eye sockets would occur. That hope of going to the restroom without talking to him was short lived.

Titus was in my face and as angry as I was in that moment it was best to try to avoid him. He says,"Hey, glad you all made it." Without looking at him responding, "Excuse me but I ugh need to go to the bathroom." Not waiting for a response quickly moving past him. Signaling Edrea, Dessa, and Tanielle to the restroom was a must. Throwing up my hand and taking my pointer finger pointing towards the restroom door they all knew emergency.

We get into the restroom and for a few seconds neither of us said anything.

Keep in mind this is my first time writing and these are events that actually happened in my life. People's names and some of the places of course I changed but the outline is still the same. Constructive criticism is welcomed please no nitpicking.
