The Grass Isn't Greener On The Other Side

Chapter Six

Dessa was the first to say anything."Are you alright? Just know we are here for you." No words could come out so to signify hearing her by just nodding my head. They all give me a hug and taking in a deep breath it was time to face the fire.

As expected Titus was waiting in the lobby area by the restroom's. He was talking to someone me knowing that he is waiting for me hoping that person keeps him distant and distracted. Letting out that deep breath and inhaling another one my mind was set to ignore and avoid. That plan quickly came to a halt when he was now in my face.

Titus with an enthusiastic,"Hey."
My weak response with no energy or even an ounce of a care flat line response was,"Hey." He looks at me and says,"Is that all you can say you came all the way out here to see me and this is how you treat me?" Anger quickly came across my face,"I said hey." He goes,"That was weak." This man proceeded to get upset with me and has the nerve to continue and says,"Forget it then."He walks out of the lobby back into the seating conference area. Watching him turn away a ton of emotions flooded me at once. Rage, sadness, loneliness, insecurities crept up. The tears were forming in my eyes yet they were forced back not being allowed to show weakness. Pressing my lips together really hard and fought back the tears by closing my eyes and taking another deep and slow breath.

Dessa and Edrea come to my side rubbing my back and just giving me a huge hug. Turning to them after being released from their hugs a forced fake smile. Signifying it's all alright and to let's try and enjoy the rest of our time here.

I began to peak through the lobby windows seeing Titus talking to Tavari he mouthed to him, "I think she knows and she is pissed." Tavari laughs at him and just shook his head. Taking a step back from the lobby window Tanielle comes up to me and says."I can't let it end like this no way, I'm going to go and talk to him." Shrugging my shoulders to let her know I really could care less as to what she does.

Putting on a fake smile I open the door and walked back into the seating conference area. I see Tavari walked up to him, gave him a hug and he introduces me to his fiancé Joy. I spoke with them for a brief moment. Looking at them and as they talked my heart was being broken all over again. I had to excuse myself from the couple because it was too much to bare.

Proceeded to go around the room talking to other people I've met and known from different conferences. Yet it seemed to me that everyone knew Cassie yet I knew nothing of her which thinking about it made me very angry all over again.

Took a look and in the corner of my eyes to my left I see Tanielle talking to Titus. They were laughing what the hell could they be laughing about I'm over here ready to die from heart ache yet these two fools are laughing like it never happened.

In that moment I felt alone and just figured this has gotten to much for me to handle air is much needed. Turning on my heel swiftly walking out of the door back into the lobby and outside. There I saw Dessa talking to this guy smiling at them. Continued to walk I hear Dessa yelling."Where are you going?" Turning around yelling back,"To the car."

Pulled out my phone and sat in the car of course locking the doors this is California. Sending all of them text messages, I'm in the car you don't have to rush just come to the car when you all are ready to leave...

Dessa didn't respond she already knew I was in the car. Edrea and Tanielle both respond with, ok.

Every ounce of my spirit was drained a million questions flooded my head why her and not me. One more day and I won't have to deal with him ever again you can survive one more day Amiah. My phones lights up it's a text from Dessa, open the door I'm coming it's cold outside.

Being that it was cold now since it was dark out now figured I'd go ahead and crank up the car to let it warm up. So, when the other girls get to the car it'll be warm and we could pick a place to eat or hit up Target and crab some things for me to cook back at the hotel.

Dessa opens the car and gets in she says," Oh goodness it's cold out there so glad you decided to come to the car it's nice and warm in here now." All I could do was smile at her and give out a little chuckle. A few moments later Edrea and Tanielle get in the car and they both give out sigh of relief for how warm it is.

Dessa,"So what are we going to eat?"
Tanielle,"Well I was hoping we could have a little bit of a home cooked well technically hotel kitchen cooked food."
We all laughed.
Edrea,"Amiah probably doesn't feel up to cooking so we would have to cook and I don't really feel like cooking so I say we get some church's chicken."
Tanielle,"Now you know I can't eat anything at church's chicken things have to be gluten free because of my celiac." As the girls went back and forth as to what they wanted to eat I made my own choice that was to go to In-N-Out.If they wanted something else I would stop on the way to the hotel if not then In-N-Out they can eat.

Of course they all ordered something except Tanielle we stopped to get her something else at Walmart for her to cook for herself at the hotel. We all were so tired that we ate and the girls passed out but me on the other hand it was necessary that I took a shower. In the bathroom the water works began. My heart wept and tears began to flow it was almost impossible to stop the tears.

The nerve of him to get upset with me because he didn't get a happy go lucky response. How can you expect me to be happy when I walked into a situation thinking one thing but finding out another.
