Chapter 3

Scott's pov
"Find anything?" I asked Deaton who was examining the claw for the guy that attacked me.
"Maybe. Are you sure this guy was a werewolf? As far as I can tell, these claws are actually talons. In fact, they're the talons of a harpy eagle, one of the largest known birds of prey." Deaton said
"How does a werewolf get talons? "
"Personally, I'm more interested in how these talons somehow were able to absorb your power. The only one who should be able to do that is a Beta of your own making. "
"Someone like Liam. " I said
"Exactly. "
"And what if I let someone into my pack? Like another Beta? "
"I would normally say no... ...but I'm starting to wonder if the rules to our supernatural world aren't as rigid as I once thought. Or maybe someone's trying to change those rules."

Malias pov
"So you ran a background check, and all you found was a speeding ticket?" I said
"Speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago." Stiles said
Which means what?"
"Who speeds? People trying to get away from something."
"Well, how many tickets do you have?"
"None."
"How many would you have if your dad didn't get you out of them?" I asked
"Seventeen."
"I don't know, Stiles. I mean, I see why you're worried. He's really hot. He's got like great hair, perfect body. You should definitely feel threatened." I said
"Thank you. Because I do. Now more than ever." Stiles said
You want me to torture him?"
No, I don't want you to torture him."
"I'm pretty sure I can take him."
"I have a plan. All right? There are steps to doing this right."
"What steps?"
We get the story. Verify the facts. You find the piece that doesn't fit and... and catch him in the act. That's how you do it." Stiles said
Why are you so suspicious of this guy?" I asked
"Because I remember Theo from fourth grade. Okay? That's not Theo." stiles said

Liam's pov
"This is the one I was telling you about. I got it from a rare book dealer in Germany. Cost me two hundred bucks, but it was totally worth it. "Mason said looking into what attacked him at the end of last year. I'm not giving anything away though.
"You're still reading about this stuff?" I asked
"I was attacked by an armor-plated giant wearing a bear skull. It left an impression. Look. Look. Have you ever seen anything like this? Uh, no. Never. And then there's this whole section about the Nagual. Have you ever heard of the name Tezcat..." Mason said looking at the book
"Tezcatlipoca. No. No, never heard of him." I said
"Take your seats, everyone." Mr. Yukimura says. The only seat left is next to a girl that vividly remember from sixth grade. And I definitely don't want to sit next to her.
"Liam. You're not gonna just stand there, are you?" Mr Yukimura asked
"Maybe." I said
"The whole semester?" Mr Yukimura asked
"Maybe." I said
"Liam, have a seat." Mr Yukimura tells me. So I sit, straight into a wade of chewed gum.

"Look, I'm not saying I believe all of it a hundred percent, but people around us seem to know things. Like Lydia, she knows things." Mason said
"Dude, it's the first day at school. Shouldn't you be thinking about other things like... Like the soccer team?" I said
"What do you think I'm going to do? Follow them out to the field and watch them practice while I pretend to study?" Mason said
"It's warm out. They'll probably gonna be shirtless." I said
"I'll see you in Physics." Mason said walking away. I turn only to find out, the girl with a grudge against me has the locker next to mine.
"Nice shorts." She said seeing that I'm now wearing my lacrosse shorts because she put gum on my chair and I couldn't get the gum off my jeans.
"Yeah, thanks. You know, I was wondering if you were still pissed off about the sixth grade, but I guess you cleared that up." I said
"I'm not pissed off, Liam. I'm vengeful." She said walking away.
"Liam!" I heard someone scream. I turned around just in time to catch Abigail as she wrapped her legs around me. I sighed in relief finally feeling calm now that she's here. I immediately hugged her back.
"I missed you" I whispered into her neck as I hugged her.
"I missed you too so much" she said pulling me closer to her.
"You two are so cute it's disgusting" kira voice said. Abigail giggles and unwrapped herself from me.
"Don't be jealous kira" Abigail said leaning into me as I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and she wrapped her small arms around my waist.
"I'm not." Kira said laughing
"How was your summer?" I asked Abigail
"Like you don't know. I rang you every night" Abigail said
"Well I want to her everything all over again" I said
"See cute"kira said pointing at us, causing us all to laugh.

Tracy's pov
I look at the lockers and see black blood flowing out of them and then A doctor starts to crawl out of a locker towards me.
"There's nothing there. There's nothing there. There's nothing there. There's nothing there. There's nothing there. There's nothing there. " I keep repeating. Just as it's about to reach me I hear Lydia's voice and snap away from the scene infront of me.
"Tracy? Are you all right? How about we go outside? Hmm?" Lydia said taking me outside

Third person
Theo starts telling Scott and Stiles the story of how he became a wolf. He says he was skating in a neighbors empty pool. It got late and he fell but the board didn't fall with him. From their the wolf charged at him. Stiles wants to know why he didn't become part of that wolf's pack. Apparently, the wolf was Aiden's alpha, the one he and his brother, Ethan, killed. Theo guilt trips Scott about lone wolves not making it and being the same kid from before. Scott tells Stiles that they're giving Theo the benefit of the doubt. Stiles swears he's right, and so far the track record is 100 percent when Stiles thinks someone is evil, they usually are. Lydia questions her mother about Tracy and Parrish examines Tracy's room. He finds that the skylight is in fact open. He looks through it. Lydia asks if he sees anything. He lies and says no, even though there are a ton of dead crows on Tracy's roof. Malia's taking her driving test with Mr. Yukimura, where she starts to has flashbacks. It causes her to go too fast and fail. Stiles has broken into the office to steal Theo's transcripts and finds out that he's father's signatures are different. Still no one thinks he should be raising the alarm. Stiles storms out and Liam and Abigail seem to be the only ones willing to help.

Abigail's pov
"What's a Criminal Tremor?" Liam asks stiles form the back of the jeep.
"It doesn't matter." stiles said
"Why are you helping me if you don't even know what a criminal tremor is?" Stiles asked
"Because you wanted help" Liam said, but it kinda came out like a question
"What about you?" Stiles asked me
"I'm just here because liam is. I don't really care about theo" I said
"I think you are the only one that doesn't have an opinion" stiles said
"Oh no. I have an opinion this guys sketchy, he just pops up out of no where. That's weird" I said
"Thank you" stiles said.

Lydia's pov
"I can't do anything official right now, but I can come back after my shift tonight and watch the house for a couple of hours." Parrish said talking about Tracy's house. Something weird is going on here.
"I'll keep you company." I said
" I think I'll be okay." Parrish said
"But this is your own time." I said
"I wouldn't do it if I didn't think something strange was going on. I also owe you." Parrish said
"For what?"
"Three weeks of digging through every piece of old literature and mythology trying to figure out the something strange going on with me."
"But we never figured it out. I'll bring you coffee." I said
"Don't you have school tomorrow?"
"One class."
"How can you only have one class?"
"I had enough credits to graduate last year. And I will bring you coffee at midnight if I want to."
"Medium Americano. Black." Parrish said smiling.
