First Take: January 17th, 2014Devyn Cheng
This was one of the longest days I had spent at work. It was a Friday and the lines were long as hell. Of course that would be the case at a H&M.
I was working the dressing rooms which means I was running all over the place. People were fussing about the amount of time that others were taking in the dressing rooms and at the same time, I was trying to keep them calm and get people in and out as fast as I could.
It was a mess. "Devyn!" my coworker and bestfriend Eva called me.
I groaned. "What?!"
"Whoa, no need to snap. Lets switch, I know you're probably tired of being over here. I was on the floor in the mens section" she walked over to me and took the hangers out of my hand. I nodded as my way of saying thank you and sighed before making my way to where she said she was at.
From the looks of things, it seemed like she was just refolding clothes. She never really did anything unless it involved helping customers anyway, so I figured there probably wasn't much to do around here besides that and I was right.
I was honestly going to just walk around and pretend I was doing stuff. If I saw my manager, i'd just duck off somewhere.
I bent over to pick up a few shirts that were on the floor. "Excuse me?!" I heard somebody say. I popped up and turned around, coming face to face with a girl that looked to be in her teens. She had a guy with her but he seemed to not be paying any attention to what was going on considering the fact that his face was stuck in his phone.
"Yes, how can I help you?" I asked the girl.
She smiled. "This may sound really dumb but i've never been to this one before. Um, where are you guy's hats and stuff?"
"Oh, on the second floor. Literally as soon as you come up, on your right" I let her know.
"Thank you so much. Your hair is really nice by the way" she complimented the box braids I wore. When she did, the guy she was with finally looked up.
I thanked her with a smile and out of curiosity, glanced at the guy she was with. From the look I got at him, he was really attractive but i didn't want to look at him too long. It could've been her boyfriend or something.
"You did them yourself?" she asked me. I shook my head no.
"My friend actually did them. She's the girl over by the dressing rooms in the blue" I pointed towards where Eva was.
"Yes! Thank you. I was just about to ask if I could have her contact info" she chuckled and began to walk away.
I sensed her boyfriend didnt seem to feel the same way about staring at people. His eyes were set on me. I feel slightly uncomfortable but shook it off and continued what I was doing.
"You look like you don't wanna be here" I heard him say so I turned around.
"Would you want to work here on a Friday evening?" I raised a brow at him awaiting his response.
He smiled with a small laugh. "Hell no. I used to work at Forever 21. Shit got hectic on weekends."
"Exactly" I chuckled taking in his features. He was really fine but I wasnt going to tell him that.
"How long you been working here?" he asked me.
I shrugged. "About a year or so."
"How old are you?" he questioned.
