Chapter 2
3rd Person
Lucy lay in Lockwood's bed, still without any answers as to why she was in Lockwood's room instead of her own. Why Kipps was checking in to see how she was. Just what in hell did Barens want.
Some of those answers, she was sure, would come in time.
Others she wanted now.
Afternoon had rolled around slowly. Holly had kept her company while the boys got ready for the cases they had tonight.
"They wanted me to stay and take care of you." Holly informed.
"But that means-"
"I know. Two cases for each. They're confident." Holly mused to herself.
Lucy felt deeply uncomfortable with this decision. That only increased their chances of getting ghost touched. Maybe Lucy had been working herself too hard.
Of course, Lucy's own health was the least of her worries now that she knew what the boys were going to do.
Those stupid bastereds!! Lucy cursed to herself. Of course they would have Holly take care of me and they take up the jobs.
Holly strolled out of the room. Now was Lucy's chance.
She threw off the covers and leaped out of be, only to come crashing down to the floor due to her weak legs. She landed on the floor with a rather loud THUD! She prayed that no one heard it, though her common sense was lecturing her because obviously someone heard that!
Lucy used all of her strength to stand and rush to the door, hoping that, of all people here, Lockwood wasn't the one who heard her fall. The door opened, and Lucy fell onto whoever had opened the door. And luckily, they caught her.
"Lucy?" Damn it! It was Lockwood. Just my luck. Lucy cursed internally.
She looked up at him. "Hi." Her horse voice shook.
He looked down at her sternly.
"Lucy, what are you doing?" He picked her up and carried her bridal style and laid her back down on his bed.
"I wanted to talk to you. It's important." She claimed.
"Alright. What is it?" He wondered.
"I'm worried about you." She started.
"For tonight? Don't worry. George and I'll be fine." He assured.
"But what if-"
"Lucy, we'll be okay." He interrupted. "You need tonight off. George and I can handle this."
She didn't believe him.
"Love, don't worry. Everything's going to be okay." He kissed her forehead sweetly.
About an hour later the boys left.
Now it was just Holly and Lucy.
And even though they were starting to get along, they still had their quarrels. No matter how much time they spend together, Lucy was still Lucy. And Holly was still Holly.
In the end, they were still so different. Nothing could change that.
Lucy knew this well. In fact, she knew that she was different from all other girls. She wasn't the same. Some were into fashion, but that's something Lucy could care less about. Most girls have boys tripping over themselves because of how beautiful most are. Lucy considered herself lucky she could get Lockwood to call her pretty. Most girls have a ton of friends, and Lucy just had George and Lockwood.
