Think carefully Luke... Come on.
"Well... Bella kind of-"
"Bella? Bella's showering at your house?" She interrupted.
"No, it's not like that-"
"Well the two are you came back to your house alone, thinking nobody was home whilst she took a shower, right?"
"When you put it that way it sounds bad but it's not... She... She got drink poured over her... It was red wine, it stained her dress and she said her skin felt all sticky. She just wanted to get out of her clothes and our house was a lot closer than hers, nothing's going on I... I promise." It probably killed him to say them words, 'I promise'. But at least he came up with a great, believable excuse.
"Okay, I believe you babe."
I rushed my shower and as I took a step out, I heard the front door slam shut. I wrapped my hair up in the smaller towel and covered my body with the large one. When I got into Luke's bedroom, I saw Becca putting her bag on her arm.
"Hey Bec, did Luke just leave?" I asked casually, as if I didn't just hear their conversation.
"Yeah, Beau just called asking to meet up, he said it was important."
"Beau? Why would he want to meet up with Luke?" It was more of a rhetorical question but Becca still answered whilst she walked to the door.
"God knows. I'm gonna leave now and see Luke later, I don't think he was expecting Beau to just ring like that, I'll just call him later."
"Okay, see ya!" I waved, and she left with a simple bye. I wasn't sure if Becca was still 100% with mine and Luke's relationship, everything was a bit shifty considering we had a past with cheating and blah blah blah.
As I anxiously waited for Luke to get back home from his 'meeting' with Beau, I got changed into one of Luke's baggy tops and long football socks. The best way to steady my nerves was to bake. I know it sounds stupid and random, but when I'm baking, there's always something to do that occupies my mind.
I mixed together all of the ingredients, luckily the Brooks' family had all of them I'm the cupboards, and when I placed the cupcakes in the oven, my eyes flicked to the clock.
"5:30? What's taking him so long?" I spoke to myself. I set the timer on the oven for 15 minutes and collected the make up from my bag. It took me about 5 minutes to do my eye make up and lipstick.
If Luke took any longer I wouldn't have been able to spend any time with him and I would have had to get a lift back to mine just to get ready in time. I didn't want to make a big effort for my dinner with Beau that night, but I kind of wanted to show him what he was missing.
By 5:45pm my cupcakes were ready and I made some icing from scratch, blue coloured. I made a make-shift icing pump thing, so I could get the swirls accurate. I put the 5 huge, delicious looking cupcakes on a plain white plate and wrote a note saying
'To Gina,
I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to see you over Christmas and New Year.
Love ya x'
It was a shame I had to spend New Year's Eve and the start of 2014 by myself, but I can't self pity because literally all of my friends tried getting me out of the house at some point. However, looking at these past few days, I've had an amazing time with Luke, I've faced Beau and I've showered plenty. I'm feeling a lot more comfortable and confident within myself, so 2014 started swell.
As I placed the note next to the cupcakes, I heard the front door shut.
"Luke?" I shouted, and made my way to the door. When I turned the corner Luke didn't give me a very warm greeting.
