After her recovery through the night, Krista held Emma through her nightmares about the battle. Despite her screams, Krista comforts her mate. The next morning, Emma wakes up and yelps seeing Krista still holding her. "What happened last night? All I really remember is the battle and Krista saying that I'm her mate." Emma thinks to herself.
"Um. . . . Hi Emma." Krista says shyly. Emma quickly untangles herself highly confused as Krista tries to hide the hurt in her eyes.
"Krista . . . please tell me that it was all a dream . . . That you didn't almost die, that you didn't say what I think you said . . . ." she says whimpering.
"If I did, then that would be a lie." Krista says softly lowering her gaze. Emma pulls her hands onto her lap and rubs her thumb lightly over her knuckles.
"Good. Then this wasn't a dream either." she says lightly brushing her lips against Krista's.
"Glad to see that you two are finally up. It's been two days." a girl says not really noticing them.
"Two days? Krista, why didn't you say that?" Emma asks shocked.
"Because I didn't think that it was relevant at the moment." She says looking at her hands.
"Can we please have a moment?" Emma asks the girl.
"Sure but the headmaster wants to see you both in his office immediately after." the girl says hurrying back to class.
"If you want to reject me as a mate then I understand." Krista says looking away hoping that Emma wouldn't see the hurt and agony just saying those words bring to her heart.
"That's not an option." Emma says pulling her chin gently to make her look into her eyes.
"Rejection is always an option. I've been through it before. I've almost lost count. I don't see why anyone would want . . ." she begins before she's cut off by her lips.
"Can I finish?" Emma giggles. Krista nods still looking unsure. "You are my mate and there is no way in hell that I'm giving you up." Krista looks at her tearfully.
"Why though?" She asks her.
"Because I have searched for what seems forever looking for someone just like you. You are the only one who has even come close to feeling right in my arms. I have fallen in love with you." Emma confesses. Krista pulls her to her chest and holds her tightly for fifteen minutes before standing to lead her to the headmaster's office to receive Emma's schedule.
"Well, it's nice to see you have recovered enough to join us Ms. Reynolds. Ms. Montello is supposed to have your notes for you if she hasn't been slacking off again." The teacher, also the wife of the headmaster, says giving Krista a firm glare when they walk in late.
"Well, excuse me for taking care of my girlfriend." Krista says emphasizing girlfriend as she speaks pulling Emma closer to her noticing some of the male students starting to stare at her. Emma blushes wanting to hide behind her.
"Krista, they're not staring at me." She whispers hoping that she might let up.
"You're mine and they were staring. You will only be stared at by me." Krista growls protectively causing her blush to deepen considerably.
"Please take your seats ladies so that we can get along with our session on the use of music to cast spells." Lilith says turning back to the board where she finishes the notes. Krista pulls her to sit beside her.
"So, you're into the ladies. I bet I could change that for you." One of the guys sitting beside her whispers.
"Talk to my girlfriend like that again and there will be consequences." Krista hisses over Emma.
"Yeah? What'll you do about it wolfy? Bite me?" He sneers.
"Yeah, I'll bite out your throat." she snarls.
"Krista, Brenton, outside my classroom please and to the headmaster. Emma, maybe you should go too." Lilith says pointing towards the door. All three of them gather their belongings and walk towards the headmaster's office. Krista keeps Emma close to her. Brenton smirks and walks behind trying to look at her ass. Krista picks Emma up and carries her the rest of the way with both of their belongings.
"Oh, come on! That's not fair!" he whines as they reach the headmaster's office.
"Krista, why are you in here again?" Leonidas asks not even looking up from the forms on his desk as they enter.
"Brenton tried to make a move on my mate." she says sitting with Emma still in her arms.
"Put her down please." He says looking up nonchalantly. Krista shakes her head pulling Emma closer looking towards Brenton. "Ah, so my wife sent you along as well." he says noticing him.
"Yeah. I'm innocent though." He says trying to look unphased. Krista snarls startling Emma a bit.
"Bullshit. You were hitting on me . . . Krista was only protecting me." Emma whispers looking at her hands.
"That settles it. Brenton, you're going to have to clean the beast cages for the next four weeks." Leonidas says going back to his papers. "As for you two ladies, go back to class and stay out of trouble." Brenton looks at him in disbelief.
"But headmaster! That's so unfair! She wanted to have a reason to beat my ass." he tries to plea so that he can get out of trouble.
"Doesn't work that way bud. You know the consequences of messing with a student's mate. You will always get in trouble. They won't unless they actually try to kill you which I will probably watch until almost the end." Leonidas says trying not to look amused. Krista snickers. Brenton growls and storms out of the room. "Now then, back to class ladies." Krista and Emma go back to class where everyone except for Lilith kept staring at them. Emma tries to hide her face in her books the best she can with Krista's loving gaze on one side, Brenton's glare on another, and the class's judgemental stares on every other side.
