I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself. I checked my phone for any texts.

One from Gloria.

'How'd it go? Did he ask you out?'

I quickly replied.

'It was fine, I guess. He invited me to his friend's party...'

I put my phone down and patted over to my closet to find something to wear.

I pulled out a long-sleeve, maroon, dress that stops at my knees before deciding it looked a little too classy for a teenage party and putting it back.

I finally found a black fitted dress and pulled out a pair of heels to go with it. I stop to examine my outfit choice.

The top half of my dress had a heart shaped neckline with sparkles along it. The bottom half was plain black and stopped about mid-thigh. My heels were also black, but covered in sparkles.

I walked back into the bathroom and plugged in my dryer and flat iron.

My phone screen lit up and I read the text from Gloria.

'Are ya gonna go?'

I typed back a quick 'yes' and began drying my hair.

I ran my flat iron over my hair and I saw another text from Gloria.

'Have fun ;)'

'No promises' I let out a laugh as I sent the message to her. I was praying for the best, but I wasn't sure.

I glanced at the top of my phone screen. It read 8:45. I'd be a little later than I thought.

I resumed doing my hair then got dressed. The dress hugged my skin and my heels made me look five inches taller.

I grabbed my make-up bag and threw on some mascara and a light shade of lipstick.

I grabbed a jacket and my purse before heading out the door.

I started to put on my jacket when I walked past my car and remembered it wouldn't start. I mentally reminded myself to call someone to help fix it.

I walked down the sidewalk and admired the lights surrounding me. The street lights, the light shining from stores, the people that had not yet gone to bed, they were all on.

As I got closer to the address I was given, I could hear loud music blaring from inside.

I entered the building and found apartment B on the second floor.

I knocked on the door but had a feeling nobody could hear, so I let myself in.
