I checked my phone for the tenth time since we'd arrived at Eichen House.

I caught Lydia's frown, but we didn't discuss it. By that time we'd already approached the gates, and coincidentally approached Bruinski as well.

"Oh, no, not this guy." Stiles mutters under his breath, and the guard smirks at us, before turning his angry gaze to the receptionist.

"What the hell are we running here? A bed and breakfast? We do not just open the door for anyone with a badge!" he spits, and Parrish takes a step forward.

"We need to talk to Meredith Walker. It involves a murder investigation." He wasn't lying.

"Well, you can talk to her all you want, but these three-" Points at us, then to Stiles. "Especially that one- they're outta here."

I glance at my phone again. Not even read.

"They're crucial witnesses in an ongoing investigation." Parrish explains professionally. "I wouldn't have brought them here if it wasn't absolutely crucial."

Bruinski nods. "Okay, Deputy. How about you come back with a court order, then I'll listen." he turns to Stiles, and I suppress a growl. "As for you, Mr. Stilinski, how about you come back with payment in full. That's right. Daddy may be the Sheriff, but he's late on the bills. I guess those government jobs aren't as reliable as they used to be, huh?" he taunts, and I grind my teeth as Lydia snatches my wrist. My claws were showing.

"But they do help when you need a favor." Parrish chimes in, and all attention turns to him, letting me grasp control again, shooting Lydia a grateful look.
