I bit my lip, side eyeing my mate. "Maybe.. Scott, maybe he shouldn't go today, I mean, half of the town did see him shifted.."

Scott frowned at me. "You don't want him to go?"

I shrugged. "It wouldn't be the worst thing."

Scott raised his eyebrows, unconvinced.

"Okay, I'm worried." I confess. "What if the kids at school- what if they try to hurt him?"

Scott rolled his eyes. "With something silver?"

"Exactly!"

Scott smiled gently at me, with soft eyes. "He's going to be fine. I mean, I shifted in front of half of the police squad, and I'm fine." He wrapped me in a hug as I struggled not to smile. "Besides, it would probably be suspicious if he didn't show."

I sigh onto his shoulder. "Yeah, you're right." We break apart and I glance uneasily at Liam's bedroom door. "Well, here we go, then.."

Scott and I shared a look, bracing ourselves before entering Liam's bedroom. Liam's very dark, very dreary, and very depressed room.

After yanking open the curtains, letting a flood of morning sunlight into the room, brightening it considerably, I scoffed at my younger brother's attempt to hide under the gray sheets. "Liam, we know you're here. You may have fooled Justin, but you certainly aren't fooling us." Without warning, I yank back the sheet to reveal a grumpy, disheveled Liam, the beta letting out a loud tortured moan before yanking the sheet back. "Yeah, it's called scents, Li. We can smell you from a mile away."

Scott and I share a look as Liam remains hidden. Scott sighs before moving to pull the covers back again, only Liam's expecting it this time, and they don't budge. "Liam." Scott complains, and the beta lets out a serious of fake coughs.

"Oh, no, no, I'm sick.." his voice pleaded, slightly muffled, and accompanied by more fake coughs.

"You're not sick." Scott and I reply.

"Yeah, no, I- I'm like deathly ill." comes the reply, and I share a look with Scott.

Is he serious right now?

"It's serious. I think..." More exaggerated coughs. "I think it's the flu.."

Scott shakes his head at the Liam shaped lump. "You don't have the flu."

I jump in before Liam could counter the claim. "It's not flu season."

Liam's voice comes out croaky, like a pitiful whine. Fake pitiful whine. "Then I probably have pneumonia."

I snort, and roll my eyes. You handle this.

Scott sighs a bit. "Liam, you're a werewolf. You can't get pneumonia. But what you can get-"

"-Is in trouble for being late for school, so come on, let's go." And with that, I yank the blanket back, succeeding in getting Liam to at least sit up.

Liam fixes us both with a glare. "I don't think I should go to school. Or outside. Or anywhere.. ever again!" And with that, he's back under the covers.

"It doesn't matter what you think, okay, because you gotta go." Scott explains firmly. "All you do is pretend like nothing happened."

I cringe at my mate a split second before Liam is practically leaping out from under the blankets, astonished, and a little mad. "Pretend?! I'm just supposed to pretend?!"

Scott and I share a look, unsure of where to go to now.

"Think of it like.. think of it like Clark Kent." I supply, sitting down on the bed next to him while he frowns. "Like Superman gets caught with his glasses off."
