"LYDIA?"

I called out my best friend's name, frowning at my phone, checking the time in which she messaged me to meet her at the school library before scrolling to the messages.

Lyds

I'm just typing back a reply when Lydia's voice calls out to me, causing me to shovemy phone back into my pocket.

"Indi?"

"Lyds?"

The strawberry blond gasped in relief when she saw me, rushing over, a panicked look on her face. "Indi, thank God, listen-"

I grasp Lydia's hands in mine, furrowing my eyebrows as her chemosignals invade my nose, going off the charts with fear, anxiety, and distress. "Lydia, wait, slow down, you're going to give yourself a panic attack!" I caution my friend, who shakes her head rapidly, orange curls whipping back and forth.

"No, no, Indi I-"

"You know what's coming."

Lydia and I both jump and turn, and I'm shocked I hadn't heard the intruder, too wrapped up in Lydia's emotional state to be paying close attention to our surroundings. I place myself protectively in front of my best friend as Theo rounds the corner, looking sketchy as hell, his sights on Lydia, who was trembling.

"Don't you?" Theo tilts his head, walking slowly toward us, despite my warning growl.

"Theo, what are you doing here? Why aren't you at the clinic with Scott and Liam and Hayden?" I squint at the beta, who chuckles at me, motioning me to be quiet before turning to Lydia again. I whip my head around to face the banshee, startled to find her unblinking and pale.

"Someone's going to die here." she mumbles, and my blood chills as I reach out to grab her arm, to snap her out of it.

"You're right." Theo responds.  And I gasp, narrowing my eyes at my former fling. "But I can't let you tell anyone."

Lydia takes a sharp inhale of breath, and when Theo stalks closer, I pull her back with me, keeping myself between her and Theo.

"Why?" I ask, unable to comprehend the situation before me right now. "What the hell is going on, Theo?!"

Theo smiled at me, and he's smiled at me thousands of times,  a usually sweet, caring, gentle smile that calmed me down or put me at ease, one that I trust.

This smile was not like those smiles. This one was wrong. Twisted. Untrustworthy.

"Oh, Indi." he laughed, grinning at me, and in the lighting of the library, it looked sinister. "Come on, give yourself more credit than that.."

My mind was reeling.

What the hell is happening?!

"Theo, I don't know what you're here for, or why you're acting like this," I start, continuing to back up with Lydia. "But you don't have to do this.. you don't have to hurt Lydia, or stop her from predicting death, or whatever you're trying to do.."

Theo laughed. "Yes I do."

I choke back tears when we reach the wall, no place to run. "Why are you doing this?"

Theo grins. "Because I want you, Indi. I want all of you."

What?!??

"What are you talking about?" Lydia whispers from behind me, and I shrink back even farther as Theo reaches us.
